The confusion of the story
Reviewed: 03-21-25
The story was poorly written and built. Many times had no idea who the characters were, if they were people or the cats. The story had no ending. I was left high and dry not knowing what was to become of T’Roy of Callie or Frankie for the matter.

Close to home

This is the most beautiful, but difficult and heart wrenching book of the series for me. So many issues in the book were very close to my life. Issues such as rape, cancer, abortion. As a rape and cancer survivor I was in tears as I listened and it brought back the feelings of thinking I had caused those things to happen to me.
I applaud the narrator, Therese Plummer and she is my favorite narrator and probably one of the best in the business. Her narration made me feel as if I was living the story and was actively part of Virgin River’s inhabitants.

Story
Emma London never thought she had anything in common with her grandmother Genevieve London. The regal old woman came from wealthy and bluest-blood New England stock, but that didn't protect her from life's cruelest blows. Genevieve rose from the ashes of grief and built a fashion empire that was respected the world over, even when it meant neglecting her other son. When Emma's own mother died, her father abandoned her on his mother's doorstep. Genevieve took Emma in and reluctantly raised her - until Emma got pregnant her senior year of high school.

Rachel’s voice
Reviewed: 09-04-24
It took a lot out of me to finish listening to this audio book. Rachel’s voice was so annoying and irritating. I wondered if she gone back to listen to what she taped. I will make sure I do not listen to anymore books narrated by her!
The story was relatable, I loved the triplets, Jenny, Leo. I couldn’t believe how naive Rachel was, nobody is “this nice” and Adam was a douce bag! As for Owen is the saying we have in Jamaica,”cow nuh kno de use ah im tail til im loose it” meaning Owen did not appreciate and respected Jenny when he was married to her until she was no longer married to him and now that she isn’t, he’s trying to get her back which was too late. Very selfish of him!

One is living hand to mouth, suffering at the hands of a violent partner who would rather see her dead than leave him. You may think you know these women already and how their lives will unfold. Beth will live happily ever after with her little girl and her soulmate. Cath will go back to her abusive husband. And these two women will never cross paths. But you will be wrong.

Putting herself first is what Jordana Evans knows how to do best. She’s at the top of her game in her career and no longer haunted by memories of her past threatening to steal her joy. In her mind, being in love is a want, not a need, and she’s convinced that she’ll be just fine without it. Having intimate relations with the opposite sex is something she’s willing to do for one night only. But then came along…him.

No editor?
Reviewed: 12-20-23
It took a lot out of me to finish this book. The female narrator had a flat voice. The repetition was endless begs to wonder if there was no editor. The sex scenes left nothing to the imagination - way too much details!
Some parts of the story line had me scratching my head. An example was when Charlie, Jordana, Dane and Dane’s cousin had that dinner together. Why would Dane allow his cousin to be all up on Jordana when his best friend Genesis had told him how he felt about Jordana and allowed his cousin to get the beat down he got. The other instance was the fight between Genesis and Jordana’s DEA brother with Genesis giving him the beat down while the other 2 brothers just stood back a watch until the very end…
I hope the author’s other books have more substance and less vivid sex scene!

An ok book.
Reviewed: 12-10-23
It’s evident that this series is the author’s first books and she has young kids. The taunting behavior is reminiscent of young boys and not grown men. The male narrator fumbled the voices of the men, giving them a whiny, immature sound and behavior.
Holly almost had a 360 degree change in personality from being the vivacious woman from book 2 to be an almost insecure person when as it relates to her sexuality.
Declan’s behavior to his mom and then his dad was in my opinion, depicted from a young boy’s perspective (almost immaturely) and not that of a grown man.
I had occasions of laughter and hopefully the author will get better with her writing and choices of narrators.

Confused
Reviewed: 12-07-23
I had a hard time deciding what race the characters were. At points I they were Caucasian but some of the descriptions made of them were those of an African American like the full lips. I have never seen a Caucasian with full lips, also I think the explicitness were not needed during the intimate scenes, gave me the impression I was reading a Mills and Boons or harlequin romance which I did as a teenager had to hide (call me naive).
The narrators could have done a better job in transitioning to the various characters. Jace sounded the same as everyone else.
All in all, I laughed aloud many times throughout the story.
Hoping Book 3 has better narrators.
