Story
In January 2019, culture writer Anne Helen Petersen set the internet on fire with her viral BuzzFeed essay diagnosing “millennial burnout” - a chronic state of stress and exhaustion that’s become a “base temperature” for young people today. Now, she continues this generation-defining conversation in a brand-new format, interviewing millennials around the country about their own deeply personal experiences with burnout, and the culture that creates it.

This is something we need to talk about more. Not only in everyday conversation, but, we need to have this discussion with openness, compassion, and understanding, not be judged and patronised. This book is a great start and introduces what it can be like, feel like, and look like when you yourself, or someone you know, are near a burnout (or already there). It’s a short read and very easy to understand. I would recommend it! 😊

Story
Arbon Academy was supposed to be a bright new start. An opportunity for greatness, and something an orphan girl could only dream of. For a while there, it seemed to be exactly that. But Violet's bright future is suddenly looking dim. Arbon Academy and Prince Alex are nothing but a facade. A trap. In a sinister world of ballgowns and backstabbing, of perfumes and politics, of indulgent parties and illegal sword fights, Violet now faces the biggest challenge of all: recovering her shattered heart from the prince who crushed it.

... this book is great, but not as great as the first book. It is still worth a read though (and re-reads) and I look forward to listening to the third book when it comes to audible, for now, I’ll make due with the e-book. 👌

Story
You have been chosen. Those four words change Violet Spencer’s whole life, when against staggering odds, she's selected in the "princess ballot". Arbon Academy is affectionately known as the school for Royals. Only the rich, powerful, or heir to a throne gain entry...except for the one scholarship student accepted every five years. It's a worldwide lottery, and one that Violet entered without giving it any serious thought. But the media got it wrong, and Arbon Academy is much more than a simple college for future leaders.

I love this series! I’ve read/listened to this book like 4-5 times and I adore it just as much as I did the first time I read/listened to it! I can’t wait until the third book is on audible as well like this and the second book. 😍

My secret is out. Everyone knows who I am. I don't have to hide. That should be a relief. Instead, it brings new problems. Things went fast, and people got killed. Now I need to rescue my best friend. We're going into the Dark-World. We're going to get her back. And I don't care who stands in my way. If I need to, I will go through them. She's my family, they are my family. Nobody touches my family.

Disappointed
Reviewed: 09-20-20
What a letdown. The first book was great but this one, this one is such a disappointment. I’m all for sex scenes in books but this book had sex scenes every other page or so (not literately, but not far off). I also adore reverse haram series where some of the guys enjoy some m/m and m/m/f action in addition to f/m and m/f/m, but, in this book, ALL *4* guys are into m/m. It’s a bit absurd and not something that is ever addressed in the story.
I will, however, read the third and final book just to see if that one can redeem this series.

I have a secret and I'm going to tell you. I'm the last full-blood witch. I'm the last Savill royal. I'm the heir to a throne four kings rule the world from. I told my secret twice now, to you and my best friend. Now it is time to keep that secret again. Because if they knew I was still alive, it would mean losing my freedom. Maybe even my life. Only for me to end up in the wrong place. Their place.

I’ve been in such a book drought lately so when I saw this book I didn’t have much hope. I was pleasantly surprised though because this book showed itself to be just what I’ve been looking for for a long time now. Though I was unsure if I would like the female narrator, I found her voice to be not an issue. Actually, she’s really good and her narration is seamless. I’m really happy with this book and will purchase the sequels.

This book had my adrenaline pumping so badly that my whole body was shaking almost as if I was having a seizure.
This book is beyond greatness.
Sarah j. Maas, wow, she is a skilled master of the art of literature, she is excellent at both writing and imagining incredible worlds of fantasy, love, horror, power, "kick-ass-ness", and all other themes of importance. Just wow!
I love Maas's other books to death as well so I wasn't particularly surprised to find that this book was out of this world.

Disappointed; In both the story and the narrator!
Reviewed: 12-08-15
In the beginning I thought this book had great potential, but then there was all those different time jumps and different point of views and everything got confusing real quick. Like I said, this book had great potential, but it fell flat for me. I didn't care one bit for the characters and the so called "boggymonsters" those evil creatures, I thought those were just 'meh'.
Sorry, but this book ain't gonna get more than 1 star from me.
And then the narrator, what was she doing? I thought she was sleeping whenever she read the female characters lines/dialogue. Horrible; just plain and simply horrible.
