I really liked the ending. I was afraid I wouldn’t.
I think my favorite part was the one person saying “name one person that didn’t mess up raising their kids” and the other person couldn’t.
We are all broken a little bit and it’s ok.

Very well written, and excellent narration. Story = Someone mis-heard a conversation and “things got out of hand”. There were quite a few funny bits and I really like the ending but the summary glossed over that this is really a murder mystery.
It has some well-described dead bodies in it, and I wasn’t expecting that. So, now you’re warned. If you are ok with that, you’ll probably enjoy this book.

I love all the characters. “Star crossed love” with a LOT of added sarcasm and craziness would be a good description. Dysfunctional fairy tale kingdom is another. I think the drunk unicorn is my favorite side character.
The world-building is well done - it’s like a patchwork quilt of countries with some patches made of gold cloth and some made of rotten burlap. But it holds together just fine.
Both narrators do an excellent job.
The story moves very slowly but it’s such a fun ride it’s ok. Looking forward to the next book.

The narrator is good with distinguishing different voices for the characters. She has a good, consistent voice.
There are triggers in the story - uncomfortable sex scenes and the girl is kidnapped and abused. I wish that had been at least hinted at in the description.
The story isn’t a cliff-hanger but it just sort of stops. I finished the book because I wanted to know what happened. Still don’t know.
The girl gets in trouble and is saved by 2 brothers. Even at the end of the story she hasn’t decided which one to get involved with.
I can’t figure out why Audible suggested this one to me. I like paranormal but with humor. Not torture, near-rape, or main characters that keep making really stupid/bad decisions.
It reminded me too much of Twilight. At least no one sparkles.

This is not an HEA. Love the characters and the town and it was nice to visit, but this was sad.
Well-written and excellent narration as always. It just could have been balanced with something happy for Blair.

This has all the necessary parts for a trite, morals-based story. Only it didn’t go there. The humor is what caught my attention, zombie frogs, but the way the story moved forward is what kept me from putting it down. There’s a creativity I am having trouble putting into words.
After the first couple of chapters I wasn’t sure I’d made a good choice, but stick with it. It picks back up and I really enjoyed it. I’ll never look at gingerbread the same way again!
The narrator gets a bit breathy but she does an otherwise perfect job.

The first in the series is a little unpolished. This one is 10x better. Really happy there are many more!! Work-obsessed guy loses girl due to treating her like spun glass. She leaves. When he catches up with her, it gets interesting. Very happy to have cameo of previous books’ main characters. And, of course, the dust bunnies are fabulous.

Looking forward to reading more in the series. I like the characters, and the narrator is good with distinct voices for each. It’s a good “light” mystery. The lead female is strong but not too bitchy. The lead male is not well-defined but there’s time for that in future books.

Just the Happily Ever After that I needed. Triumph over fear. All sorts of irregular characters who fit together like that missing puzzle, to make a beautiful picture.
They way that this story reflects current events is both subtle and blatant. And well done. The people who insist on making everyone fit in for the sake of fitting in can’t be allowed to win. We need honesty and acceptance and diversity. And kindness.
This is a story of one person who finally finds something worth fighting for, and finding the strength and courage in herself to be herself. I loved it!

It’s a bit like a comic book coming to life. Intelligent animals who can talk, super villains, the reluctant hero. It didn’t end like I expected, but much better! This is my second Scalzi book, and I’m going back for thirds next.
Wil Wheaton is a wonderful narrator. His performance made the story even better.
Quick summary: What do you do when your estranged wealthy uncle leaves you everything when he dies, and you get tossed in the middle of a group of dysfunctional enemies? You ask your cat for advice.
