When he was three years old, Brando Kelly Ulloa was abandoned by his Mexican father. His mother, Maria, dreaming of a more exciting life, saw no reason for her son to live his life as a Mexican just because he started out as one. The life of "Brando Skyhorse", the American Indian son of an incarcerated political activist, was about to begin.

Sad yet gripping

This book was well written (and well read) as well as engaging.
I love stories of perseverance and this man surely persevered. I also love stories about reconciliation. The last sentence of this story says it all.

Read don’t listen
Reviewed: 02-07-23
I want so much to finish this book but the reader for the child is so grating and fake. It sounds like an adult trying to use a child’s voice. I am interested in hearing the actual story but I’ll need to find a written copy.

Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

So very good

I was so touched by listening to Prince Harry’s own voice telling his very private life story. What an amazing young man he is…and one of the best writers I’ve read (listened to).
His story is so important. It took such courage for him to do this, and I’m sure much of his motivation is due to his deep love for his wife. I can’t recommend this more. Definitely my top 5 ever best read books

So very beautiful and raw
Reviewed: 01-19-23
This is one of the most uplifting books I’ve read. That may sound odd, as the author had so many hardships in his life…but his resilience and perseverance was remarkable and I felt myself rooting for him and his family the whole time. David Ambroz is an amazing man and I am honored to be able to read his memoir.

Informative and so very heart wrenching
Reviewed: 07-29-21
I’ve read many books on mental health. This one hit me like no other. The combination of research and information with personal story was so well written. My son has bi polar and after reading this, it is the first time I truly understand his illness. I appreciate that the author took the time to help educate through her story. I listened to it on audible but also just purchased a hard copy. Thank you Sheila Hamilton.
