Story
The Smallest Tadpole’s War in the Land of Mysterious Waters is based on a true story, a family story. In early 1861, Florida was a rural frontier state that had joined the Union just 15 years before. Its population of 140,000 was by far the smallest of any of the states that formed the Confederacy. In the 1860s, a Northern newspaper referred to Florida as "the smallest tadpole in the dirty pool of succession."

I don't normally read/listen to a book more than once... One and Done!
But this book had so many details I have read and re-read multiple times...
Narrator is easy to understand and enjoyable to listen to...

Story
Back when Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the work personally and light the fire of relentlessness for every case. Now that mentor, John Jack Thompson, is dead, but after his funeral his widow hands Bosch a murder book that Thompson took with him when he left the LAPD 20 years before - the unsolved killing of a troubled young man in an alley used for drug deals.

Book was good, but not great

Unfortunately, I rate a book by it's narrator... because I drive ALOT I am constantly downloading and listening to books! This narrator was actually pretty good, I have listened to a few that have nearly put me to sleep, (exact opposite affect needed while driving ;) . The story had a few twists that made it enjoyable and anyone who enjoys a murder mystery will probably enjoy this book.

It was sometimes a little hard to follow...but there are LOTS of interesting facts! Hard to imagine what it was like to live in that area when all this was happening.
If you don't take anything else away from this book, be alert and pay attention to what is going on around you.
