I really enjoyed this audiobook. It was well narrated. Healthier Agyepong did really well with all the voices and her intonations were perfect throughout the story. The story is rich and had funny and sad parts. I laughed and was brought to tears at parts because I’ve had similar experiences. Highly recommend!

I found her non-relatable. Listened for a while and thought she was mean to her husband and I just don’t understand where she was coming from with these boring essays.

EarPod listeners beware. Some chapters are in a whisper then the next is very loud! Whispered ending CHAPTER NINE almost screamed. Not sure why one of the narrator’s whispers to show tension. Listened to during a long road trip. I enjoyed the story and the narrators did a great job with the accents.

This was a wonderful, sweet love story with just the right touch of drama. Christian based, it was a great listen while moving through my day. Lia is a shy barista and Jordan is a well known radio personality but they both go to the same church. When they are thrown together over to each put together a float for a parade, love blooms.
Lillian Rachel’s intonations and characterizations were perfect and I had no trouble following as the dialogue progressed. She has a lovely voice well suited to this book.

This book should be required reading for any student of the arts. In fact, I would recommend it for anyone looking to freelance, no matter the industry. From creating a budget, goal setting to feeding your soul, Pratt drops a lot of great info in an entertaining and insightful way. He has been there/done that and the listener can learn from his mistakes and successes.

The book also includes action steps saying I want to reflect on, which is why I will keep it in my library of will-listen-again audiobooks.

This is a prequel to The Prayer Box but is easily a stand alone.
Elizabeth Gallagher has had a rough year and her Mom and Aunt, who lives in the Outer Banks Of North Carolina, are locked in a battle over selling land. Elizabeth is a 911 dispatcher who is second guessing her response to a call and her kids are growing up faster than she’d like! Her marriage is not all that she hoped. All of this culminates into a trip to visit her Aunt just as a hurricane develops. Family wins as closeness and understanding grow and life finds a balance.

The book is in first person, which is not always my favorite but the narrator, Sybil Johnson, does an amazing job making it work. The emotion and intonation is spot on. The characters are well done and I can feel Elizabeth’s angst as she navigates this part of her life.

The book is a quick one just a few hours, but well worth the listen!

I really enjoyed this audiobook. It can get a bit heavy at times because it deals with Poland and Germany during the reign of the Nazis. Characters are in concentration camps, suffering and it is told with detail. There were times when I had to pause just to let things settle in before I continued. There is hope and love in it, too.
I continue to think about it even though I am finished. Well worth the credit.

Be sure to listen to the author’s comments at the end of the book as she has great insight to the characters real and imaginary.

This book dealt with complex issues but didn’t take the time to flesh out any of them. I understood it was a novella so I wasn’t expecting a long book but it dealt with some heavy issues. Too heavy for a romance novella. There was alcoholism, enabling, codependency, widowhood, none of which was dealt with in a complete manner. This left the romance between the main characters lacking and their love, rushed. Just as I was starting to like and become invested in the characters, they were Professing their love and the book was over. This book needed to be about five chapters longer.

The narration was great, and although some of the male characters voices were similar, It did not detract from the story.

Any additional comments?

This is my favorite of all of Rosalind James' books and I have read everything she's published. It has heart, family dynamics and drama and, yes, there is some steamy heat. But I love "I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.” and Chloe and her son Zavy.

This is a stand alone, although Kevin McNicholl, who appeared in one of the early chapters of the very first Escape to New Zealand book, 'Just This Once' now gets his own story and I am happy with the result.

He is an All Black (NZ's international rugby team) and upholds the standards of being part of the team. He works hard, loves his family and keeps his cool and tough situations.

Kevin met Chloe Donaldson in a previous book and She a retired ballet dancer turned ballet instructor who retired after giving birth to her son Zavy. She is a single Mum who was left at the altar when she was nine months pregnant. She now lives in a very nice apartment and Kevin is her new landlord. He informs her that she has to move out of her apartment so his brother, sister-in-law and nephew can move in. He is already housing his twin sisters while they attend Uni.
And so the relationship begins! There is family drama involving Chloe's ex Rich, his sister's growing into women and Chloe with her stage Mum. All of the story lines are unique and well written.

I love the way the characters, whose careers are quite different, find common ground. Determination. Discipline. The feeling you get by doing your best. The art behind sport.

As a side- One of the things I love about the Just series is the glimpse into New Zealand. This part of the story is current because Auckland is suffering from a huge housing shortage. I have been to En Zed and this book allows you to tour parts of this beautiful country without leaving your couch.

Do yourself a favor and give it a listen. Emma Wilder does a very good job of keeping the characters voices consistent throughout the book. Her accents are fun and her narration is easy on the ears. It is a longer book and she did well!

Any additional comments?

Previous to this series the I was not a romantic suspense fan. After this series of books, I am!
Rosalind James has written wonderful characters, drawn a great description of Paradise Idaho and kept me guessing until the end.

I have read all four of the books this series and this book flows well with the others, although it is a stand alone.

Take Me Back centers around Hallie, who returns to Paradise after the death of her wealthy father, Henry. Henry was not a nice man and was hard on Hallie as she grew up. As the story develops, you understand the depth of his manipulation and deception.
While in Paradise, Hallie reunites with Jim, the handsome police chief, and her first high school love. Their steamy, although brief, affair was broken up by Henry. The attraction is still there. Hot and steamy.

The will is read and Hallie has inherited more than she imagined but Henry's manipulation reaches beyond the grave. There are stipulations and conditions she must and abide by to keep her childhood home. One of them is to stay away from Jim.

The mystery involves someone who is not happy with the will and is out to harm Hallie and claim what they think they are owed. As things progress, the threats escalate and Hallie is in danger. I was surprised and pleased by the intrigue.

Ms Pressley did a really nice job with the narrative. At times I felt like the main characters, Halley and Jim lost their distinctive voices. Jim was Southern and at times he wasn't. Same thing with Halley. Narrating an audiobook is tough business and this was a longer book so I don't hold it against her. She did a very nice job of catching all of the nuances and drawing me into the book.

The pacing was very good throughout the book and I feel like Ms James kept the characters interesting and their voices consistent. I was caught up in the story and really enjoyed this read.
