About this listen

Hallie Cavanaugh's late father just left her millions of reasons to stay away from Jim Lawson, deputy sheriff of Paradise, Idaho, and the man who broke her heart fourteen years ago. Hallie has worked hard for independence, but she can't dismiss a massive inheritance, even if she has to follow her father's manipulative terms to get it. How hard can it be to spend six months back in Paradise - and not sleep with her old flame?

Former Army Ranger Jim just wants to do his job, raise his daughter...and resist the gorgeous, redheaded reminder of his bad-boy past. Their one unforgettably hot night together had major consequences, and now there's a fortune and a family legacy at stake. But when Hallie is threatened amid a storm of uncovered secrets and conflicted loyalties, protecting her becomes more than a duty: it's a deeply personal fight Jim's heart won't let him lose.

Do you like Murder Mysteries and Romance

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

If you have read the previous books in the series then you will definitely want to read this one as well

If you like Murder Mysteries and Romance then you will love this one as it has plenty of romance and plenty of mystery

Hopefully Rosalind will visit Paradise again and take us with her

Paradise Thriller

Any additional comments?

I love this Paradise, Idaho Series! What a great Romance/Suspense series.

Brittany Pressley does a great job on the narration. I love audio books and how it brings these books to life. I really enjoyed this book and listening to it on audio made the experience even better.

In Take Me Back, Hallie Cavanaugh returns home to Paradise after the mysterious death of her evil father, Henry Cavanaugh, and has to carry out the terms of her father's will. When danger starts to threaten Hallie, Jim steps in to help and protect Hallie and helps solve her father's death.

This book has Murder, Romance, Mystery. There is suspense that keeps you guessing who done it. Full of twists and turns! I highly recommend this audible book!

Second Chance at love with a twist

What did you love best about Take Me Back?

I love that Take Me Back was about second chances at love, moving on past the mistakes and the mystery who the murderer was kept me guessing till the end.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really loved Mac she is wise for her age

What about Brittany Pressley’s performance did you like?

I really struggled in the beginning listening to Brittany. She had a husky/southern sounding voice when doing Hallie. I also felt at times her voice changed while reading Jim's part throughout the book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and cried while listening to this book. Ms. James did another amazing job telling this story.

Any additional comments?

Another win for Ms. James!!

The love of money...the root of evil?

Hallie has returned to small town Paradise, Idaho to attend her estranged father's funeral. She plans to get her closure, sell the house and return to her teaching job in Seattle in a few days. Let's start off by saying that her father was a real SOB...as evidenced by the will and 'testimonials'...Then her father's will throws a few curve balls...first, Hallie discovers that she has a brother! Her brother is also the brother of her bff, Anthea, and her sort of ex, Jim! Talk about family drama! The second curve ball is that Hallie has to occupy her father's house for 6 months in order to inherit millions. Finally, Hallie must not have a sexual relationship with Jim...yep, we need to know what that's all about. Easy peasy, right? Not so much when there are several attempts to scare her out of town, not to mention that Jim is tempting as ever. With a myriad of suspects, will deputy sheriff Jim, be able to keep Hallie safe? Will Hallie remain for the 6 mths or will she take the minimum inheritance and return to Seattle? What about the reboot on the romance between Hallie and Jim? This is a fast paced, full of drama and relationships to maneuver. The identity of the bad guy was totally unexpected! Loved the ending...got my HEA...yay!

Way To Keep It All In The Family

I love that now Deputy Jim gets his chance at love and we find out his back story and how he ended up a cop in his hometown. Deputy Jim may have always been a good guy but he has always been on the right side of the law? It's very interesting to see what happens when Jim's first love comes back to town and stirs up all kinds of conflicts in his family dynamics. And as usual in this series, Rosalind James writes stories with a mysterious and/or intriguing subplot and this one is no different. For such a small town, Paradise has a whole lot of criminal intent. The best part of the story is how Jim and Hallie overcome the obstacles, including family complications, to their relationship,

The narration was okay but would have been better with the duet style narration of the first two books in the series. Brittany seemed to narrate with a bit of a southern drawl that didn't make sense.

Absolutely worth price. I would pay it all over again.

Another great book by Rosalind!

"I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.”

I am a huge fan of Rosalind James, but I really enjoyed the reading of this book. I don't have a lot of experience with audiobooks, but I really enjoyed the reading.

I like the way that Rosalind develops her characters and their relationships between them. She does a great job with bringing in outside characters, linking story to story.

Great addition to the series

This book didn't hold my attention as well as the previous books in this series but it really picked up toward the end and finished with a bang! Rosalind James is still one of my favorite authors!

Great Author / More from this author

So far every book I have listened to from this author has had a great storyline. I really love the in depth details of each character. You feel like you are a neighbor or one of their friends and when you finish the book you miss the characters.

I did have a problem at the beginning of this book getting into the story. I thought I might regret purchasing it, but it then started to draw me in and I couldn't stop listening. I couldn't wait to get through it and hated it when it ended. I will definitely read this one again.
