Story
Twenty-eight florins a month is a huge price to pay for a man to stand between you and the Wild. Twenty-eight florins a month is nowhere near enough when a wyvern's jaws snap shut on your helmet in the hot stink of battle, and the beast starts to rip the head from your shoulders. But if standing and fighting is hard, leading a company of men - or worse, a company of mercenaries - against the smart, deadly creatures of the Wild is even harder. It takes all the advantages of birth, training, and the luck of the devil to do it.

Amazing fantasy series

One of my favorite things about the series is the book doesn't hold back from the grisly details and plot armor is mostly not an issue. I wanted something like Berserk in book form and this has mostly filled that itch. Plenty of death and gore, with things not always going in the favor of the hero. If you enjoyed berserk, I think you will enjoy this series.

Story
The Red Knight has stood against soldiers, armies, and the might of an empire without flinching. He's fought on real and magical battlefields alike, and now he's facing one of the greatest challenges yet. A tournament. A joyous spring event, the flower of the nobility will ride against each other for royal favor and acclaim. It's a political contest - one that the Red Knight has the skill to win. But the stakes may be higher than he thinks.

This book makes up for book 2's oace

Easily makes up for the second book being on the boring end. I was so engrossed in this book I couldn't wait to start it up the next time I drove. At first I was a little unsure with the new narrator but, I quickly came around to him. He did a great job and brought plenty of life to the characters. The book had a perfect amount of romance, sadness, and action. I am almost sad that it is over.

Story
Loyalty costs money. Betrayal, on the other hand, is free. When the Emperor is taken hostage, the Red Knight and his men find their services in high demand - and themselves surrounded by enemies. The country is in revolt, the capital city is besieged, and any victory will be hard won. But the Red Knight has a plan. The question is, can he negotiate the political, magical, real, and romantic battlefields at the same time - especially when he intends to be victorious on them all?

Great story and amazingly read

Narrator does a great job at giving the characters their own personality through their voices and easily makes them distinguishable. I really enjoy the story, the only issue I could see with it is that the Red Knight sometimes comes as Mary Sue. It almost never feels like he is in danger and always has some plan that always works out for him. So I think it's an amazing read for the combat description and if you enjoy the main character being an anime super hero. I know I do
