Story
FBI special agent Mercy Kilpatrick has been waiting her whole life for disaster to strike. A prepper since childhood, Mercy grew up living off the land — and off the grid — in rural Eagle’s Nest, Oregon. Until a shocking tragedy tore her family apart and forced her to leave home. Now a predator known as the cave man is targeting the survivalists in her hometown, murdering them in their homes, stealing huge numbers of weapons, and creating federal suspicion of a possible domestic terrorism event.

This was a good story with lots of characters. Once I figured out who was married to whom, it really got interesting. But then, all of a sudden it just ended, leaving me still wondering what was happening.

The whole story was hard to keep track of because it started in the middle, then skipped all over the place from character to character - and there were many! Then towards the end, it went back to the beginning . I almost just quit listening it was so confusing.

Story
It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at the video game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever.

A STORY BASED ON TRUE FACTS
Reviewed: 11-12-17
This was a wonderful story about the actual Tennessee Children's Home Society, which most people don't even know it ever existed. Based on occurrences that took place in this "children for sale" facility in Memphis, it must have been Hell on earth for the children who ended up in this place from early 1930's to 1950's. The story kept my interest throughout, and it left me feeling good in the end.

Over the course of 10 Mitford novels, fans have kept a special place in their hearts for Dooley Kavanagh, first featured in At Home in Mitford as a barefoot, freckle-faced boy in filthy overalls. Now, Father Tim Kavanagh's adopted son has graduated from vet school and opened his own animal clinic. Since money will be tight for a while, maybe he and Lace Harper, his once and future soul mate, should keep their wedding simple.

I had sort of lost track of the Mitford series, because I thought I had read all of them. But this one came along a couple of years ago, and I think the original narrator did it. I loved his narration, and the story of Lace's and Dooley's wedding was predictably riotous! Loved it's sweet ending.

Story
Owen Wister’s The Virginian pre-dates the classic novels of Zane Grey and Max Brand and is considered by many to be the original Western. Dedicated to Wister’s friend and fellow outdoorsman Theodore Roosevelt, this timeless tale almost single-handedly established the cowboy archetype in literature. A quiet, noble foreman of a Wyoming cattle ranch in the 1870s, the Virginian falls for pretty schoolteacher Molly Wood. But when a rival suitor challenges his honor, the Virginian struggles to make his beloved Molly understand the harsh justice of the West.

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN

I enjoyed this book so much, I listened to it twice, with just one book in between. The prose was wonderful, and the listener is drawn so completely into the story that it's very hard to put it down. It's not an action-packed Western, but it is a beautiful love story that takes place in the late 1880's when the West was still pretty lawless. I highly recommend this book.
