Number-one New York Times best-selling author Jan Karon returns - with the story listeners have been waiting for.
Over the course of 10 Mitford novels, fans have kept a special place in their hearts for Dooley Kavanagh, first featured in At Home in Mitford as a barefoot, freckle-faced boy in filthy overalls.
Now, Father Tim Kavanagh's adopted son has graduated from vet school and opened his own animal clinic. Since money will be tight for a while, maybe he and Lace Harper, his once and future soul mate, should keep their wedding simple.
So, the plan is to eliminate the cost of catering and do potluck. Ought to be fun.
An old friend offers to bring his well-known country band. Gratis.
And, once mucked out, the barn works as a perfect venue for seating family and friends.
Piece of cake, right?
In Come Rain or Come Shine, Jan Karon delivers the wedding that millions of Mitford fans have waited for. It's a June day in the mountains, with more than a few creatures great and small, and you're invited - because you're family.
By the way, it's a pretty casual affair, so come as you are and remember to bring a tissue or two. After all, what's a good wedding without a good cry?

What did you love best about Come Rain or Come Shine?
I loved it all, but the best part for me was when Jack Tyler came into the picture. The addition of this beautiful child into the lives of Dooley and Lace just put this book "over the top" for me. I wish I could give it more than five stars. What was one of the most memorable moments of Come Rain or Come Shine?
The bull coming to the wedding was hilarious. What about John McDonough’s performance did you like?
John McDonough is truly a gifted narrator. He brings Father Tim alive for me. He sounds just like I imagined Father Tim to sound. This is the first book in the Mitford Series that I listened to on Audible, but Mr. McDonough's performance made it extremely enjoyable. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were many moments which made me tear-up. The timing of Jack Tyler's coming was so moving. Dooley's and Lace's joy over their wedding and the gift of this child…. you could just feel how their hearts were bursting. Very moving!Any additional comments?
I am so hoping that Jan Karon will continue writing and adding the lives of Dooley, Lace and JT into her next ten books. I can hardly wait!Awesome!
