Story
William Shakespeare, the most celebrated poet in the English language, left behind nearly a million words of text, but his biography has long been a thicket of wild supposition arranged around scant facts. With a steady hand and his trademark wit, Bill Bryson sorts through this colorful muddle to reveal the man himself.

Humorous & Accessible

Bill Bryson narrates his own humorous review of Shakespeare's life and the scholarship that's grown up around it. Bryson's reading is staccato and a bit dry at first, but I warmed to it over time. This is not a book for scholars or even serious students of Shakespeare. It's a funny look at the man who has affected so much and about whom so little is known. That said, Bryson appears to have done his homework. I learned enough to feel inoculated against silly conspiracy theories on the one hand or purist dogma on the other. Definitely recommended

Story
There have been many books - on a large and small scale - about Steve Jobs, one of the most famous CEOs in history. But this book is different from all the others. Becoming Steve Jobs takes on and breaks down the existing myth and stereotypes about Steve Jobs. The conventional, one-dimensional view of Jobs is that he was half genius, half jerk from youth, an irascible and selfish leader who slighted friends and family alike.

If you read only one book about Steve Jobs or Apple make it this one. Narration is good with a few minor blemishes (OS X is "oh ess ten" not "oh ess ex").

Story
The long-awaited biography of the frontier Founding Father whose heroic actions and neglected writings inspired an entire generation, from Paine to Madison. On May 10, 1775, in the storm-tossed hours after midnight, Ethan Allen, the Revolutionary firebrand, was poised for attack. With only two boatloads of his scraggly band of Vermont volunteers having made it across the wind-whipped waters of Lake Champlain, he was waiting for the rest of his Green Mountain boys to arrive....

Informative and Entertaining

The quality of narration was pretty good and didn't distract from the story. The structure of the book itself was somewhat meandering, jumping back and forth several years to describe certain political or historical events in a way that is perhaps more easily understood on paper. Also Allen's character and his motivations seemed in my opinion to be shown in a favorable light rather than an objective one.
All in all I leaned a lot about this man, the formation of the great state of Vermont, and the history of New England as a whole. Definitely recommended.

Story
When Ernest Hemingway died in 1961 he had nearly completed A Moveable Feast, which eventually was published posthumously in 1964 and edited by his widow Mary Hemingway. This new special edition of Hemingway's classic memoir of his early years in Paris in the 1920's presents the original manuscript as the author intended it to be published at the time of his death.

Adequate telling of an interesting story

What aspect of John Bedford Lloyd’s performance would you have changed?
The performer has a good voice, but his tone is aloof at times and the longer sentences are read flatly. The content of the story carries this performance. The book is good despite these qualities.
