Very interesting and thought provoking discussion. She presented perspectives and explanations of passages that seem to make better sense than how I've understood them in the past.

The lecturer provided clear summaries and explanations of the great ethical systems and effectively brought them into conversation with one another. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in ethics or how to live the good life.

Great Story - Performance and Volume Way Off

This series is bound to be a classic for good reasons. The author really did create a valuable piece of literature. Filled with themes, reflections, and allusions to the late Roman Empire. Taking a creative look at human nature with an eye on history.

Unfortunately, the reading and sound mixing was really off. Much of the dialogue was performed with unnatural or out of place emphasis, tone, and especially volume. The reader was not able to convey tone or emotion without vastly changing her volume--this was the bane of the recorded series. She would gradually get quieter and quieter until she was literally whispering so that you'd have to turn up the volume to make out what she was saying. Then she would raise her volume and literally yell parts she was trying to convey intensity and force you to turn the volume way down. These unmanageable volume swings really had a poor effect on the experience.

The producer did not direct the reader that this kind of acting does not translate to audiobooks. In addition, the post production sound mixing didn't correct for this unpleasant feature of the audio series.

The poor emphasis and drastic volume swings by the reading, took a really great series and made it a chore to constantly have to manually adjust the volume. I hope they will go back someday and remix it to at least fix the volume.

I still finished the audio series and enjoyed the story so I won't discourage anyone from taking in a great piece of literature, just be prepared to manage the volume throughout the series.

A fresh look at the structure of economic behavior on the individual and systemic levels. Lo offers insights from behavioral psychology and behavioral finance but moves beyond individual fun facts to construct a framework for understanding how our behaviors amass into the system wide forces affecting economics in general and financial economics in particular. He then takes this more dynamic and realistic model for understanding human economics and applies imagination to paint pictures of possibility for the future.

Financial systems are comprised of human decisions--let's decide to make those systems the kind that can create more good things in the world and solve some of the troubling problems we face as a whole.
