Story
It started as a routine Miami to Charlotte flight for the passengers, crew, and Federal Air Marshal Stephen Mason. But a freak storm over the Atlantic propels the airliner unexplainably back in time to the early 18th century. They find themselves on the sparsely populated coast of the Carolina Colony. Charles Town is the only English settlement of any size in the area. It's an inhospitable place of vast plantations, slavery, hostile natives, tall ships, and marauding pirates.

Not the greatest, but not bad overall. The story isn’t original, which is fine. Sci-fi concepts get reused in new ways by authors all the time. I did think it could have had a stronger plot and really didn’t feel like there was any good climax within the story. I haven’t ruled out giving the next book in the series a try yet.

Story
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Not a fan

I know many people love Tom Clancy, so I tried this book. He is great in the way he is so detailed oriented about everything. But, the detail oriented nature of his writing tended to make the book feel like it was lagging in plot delivery. Well written, but not my cup of tea.

I’m a big sci-fi fan, so I often compare types of sci-fi stories to similar ones. I felt the concepts in this book, while not completely original, were presented in a unique way. I had to research the author to see if there was sexual . The fact the author never had the opportunity to finish the sequel is the only disappointment I have about this book.

Great series

I love this series. I’ve listened to it twice. Great sci-fi series about time travel that doesn’t leave my head spinning around about paradoxes. Could have used a little more plot wise though in the third book.

Story
In late 2017, scientists at a Hawaiian observatory glimpsed an object soaring through our inner solar system, moving so quickly that it could only have come from another star. Avi Loeb, Harvard’s top astronomer, showed it was not an asteroid; it was moving too fast along a strange orbit, and left no trail of gas or debris in its wake. There was only one conceivable explanation: the object was a piece of advanced technology created by a distant alien civilization.

I am a layperson with a passion for all the mysteries unsolved and solved in astronomy. How can anyone begin to understand the unimaginable size of the universe and not naturally think of other life? Yet, I am often relegated to entertainment like Ancient Aliens to quench that thirst for theories about such things. While those programs are entertaining, they leave much to be desired in the way of any real data to consider or apply to a theory. This book is full of solid scientific thought on a subject everyone is curious about. But, it does not leave me feeling like I’ve been dragged down a path of sensationalism that is embarrassing to bring up in serious discussion. Thank you for writing this book and sharing your thoughts and theories.
