About this listen

A struggle for survival in a time long past.

It started as a routine Miami to Charlotte flight for the passengers, crew, and Federal Air Marshal Stephen Mason. But a freak storm over the Atlantic propels the airliner unexplainably back in time to the early 18th century. They find themselves on the sparsely populated coast of the Carolina Colony. Charles Town is the only English settlement of any size in the area. It's an inhospitable place of vast plantations, slavery, hostile natives, tall ships, and marauding pirates.

Finding a way back, if that's even feasible, is the least of their worries. These unintended time travelers quickly find themselves ill-equipped for hardships and dangers not faced for centuries. Perils loom at every turn in this world of loss, anguish, filth, and sweat.

Foreigners in their own land, can they survive and adapt? Is it even possible for these modern transplants to carve an existence from this foul and odorous place in time?

Stephen Mason will find a way or die trying.

Really Great Story

I loved all three books. It was so smooth, well crafted, connected. For me, there weren't any surprises but the story was so good that I didn't miss any twists and turns. The narrator was terrific! An easy read!

I often look back and think it would be nice to live in a simpler time. of course the time I refer to involves plumbing and electricity. I've enjoyed this book.

Good time travel series

Was the writing good? Not really.
Was the story good? Yes.

This is Book 1 of a 3 book series. You don't have to listen to all books in the series as the story doesn't end on a cliffhanger. I enjoyed the story, easy listening and decent narration. The writing is just okay, lots of repeating of descriptions (head and chin dipping)- maybe others won't notice but I did. Also super cheesy sex scene that while I understand why it was included, it was kind of cringy not sexy. It made me laugh.

Did I listen to the whole series? Yes, I surely did.
Would I recommend it to others? Also, yes. It is entertaining.

Pleasant time travel to 1720 Charleston

A plan crash after a time wrinkle leads to a landing in 1720 . Believable, the main character has to deal with 5 nations and pirates with wits and a Glock 17 to protect the survivors who settle in the new time with personal adjustments.

Absolutely wowed!

I loved the story from start to finish! It’s one of those books you do not want to put down as you get lost in it as if you’re the one living it. The characters and their narration is awesomely fleshed out. Do not miss out on this book!

Grabs you from the beginning

This is a great read, a fascinating tale. It moves along quickly and surprises the reader throughout. What an adventure. I'm so glad I discovered this author. The performance by Sean William Doyle is just excellent. I am super picky for some reason about audio readers and he was just incredible at every step.

Awh i have the good feels

Having just finished listening to this I’ll say it had a pleasant ending. In the beginning there was a few moments when I felt the author could have used different words. Mason said, Karen said, Lisa said…. Omg! The word “said “was used about 25 times in about 5 minutes. Other than that, the rest was enjoyable. Great story!!!=)
