Story
Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way from being an invisible wallflower. Her hard work and immaculate planning have paid off now that she’s a prominent socialite, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been bumps along the way. Less than a year since her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber is still at the top of the Bishops Harbor community pecking order, free to do as she wishes while Jackson sits in prison. But that freedom is quickly coming to an end. With Jackson getting released from prison, Amber’s time—and money—is vanishing.

Disappointing
Reviewed: 07-16-24
I know I’m in the minority here but I stopped listening to this book in the middle, could not finish.
I usually enjoy Liv Constantine’s books but not this one. It seemed so predictable and implausible.
I see it got good reviews from others but it seemed so silly to me,

Story
Margot and James are broken up—for good this time. James made sure of it when he dropped the bomb on Margot: that he doesn’t want kids, ever. Then, on the biggest morning of his life, James—an ambitious lawyer at a high-powered firm—wakes up pregnant. He realizes with dread that he is part of a recent epidemic of men suddenly and inexplicably becoming pregnant. His condition obvious to the higher-ups, James is denied the promotion he was expecting, sending him reeling.

A great story for our time. With over 70% of Americans in support of Roe v Wade, this story highlights the hypocrisy of the Supreme Court's impending overturn of the 1973 case. Maybe someone should read it to Alito and his henchmen Thomas, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, and Amy Phony Barrett!

This book was no exception.
I would warn anyone who plans to listen to this book to have tissues on hand.
It was very, very sad.

Loved this. It's a collection of short stories that seem to stand alone but somehow later connect. They all explore the lengths people go to to become parents, and the joy-and heartbreak-of being a parent.

Way too long!
Reviewed: 01-08-19
I know I'm in the minority here and that most people loved this audiobook. The subject matter is quite interesting. I was enjoying it, too, until about the middle, after which it just got too long. The author did not need 14 hours to tell this story. It could have been 10 and it would have been tighter and better. It was just tedious towards the end and I was relieved when it was finally over.

I enjoyed the beginning of this story but I found the second half confusing and it strained credulity. In fact, although I finished the book, I'm still not sure what actually happened. Julia Whelan's performance was excellent, as always.
