First I must say I appreciated James Clear narrating his own book. He's able to be clear about his own inflections.
I appreciated his summaries at the end of each chapter and loved his examples and suggestions.
I created my own road map as I read and listened to the book. Thank you for writing this easy to read book and honing in on the importance of applying the 1% change and how these small efforts compound into life changing habits. ❤️💥💯

I enjoyed the rawness of the story, especially the last hour. It was angering, suspenseful, funny, loving, and honest.
Some many of us walk away from years sometimes decades of marriages for the one simple gift many of us do not have. The power to communicate. Several marriages can be saved if we can simply learn how to communicate our needs, our shortcomings, and most important our wants. My simple opinion.
Thank you for a great ending! ❤️

Words cannot describe what this book has taught me!
Not only is it a must read, it's a must share with everyone and anyone. Especially with those who are stuck in their past, those who stopped believing in themselves or never even learned how to. It's for those who are stuck or stagnant due to a traumatic event(s) or experience(s). This book serves as a beautiful gift to release one from negative believes and propel anyone to the life that everyone on this Earth deserves.
I cannot thank my leadership Karine and Jack from The Story Makers within World Financial Group WFG that made this book a MUST read in our elite class.

Thank you so much for sharing your remarkable and triumphant story. I learned and have been reminded of so much especially how to be a better human, regardless of your situation. How no one can keep me in a cave unless I allow them. I was reminded of the importance of taking care of myself so that I can take care of my loved ones. The humility that comes from hard work and what can come from never giving up on yourself and your dreams. The importance of being a good mother, a non-judgmental mother, a patient mother, a loving mother. Thank you for the reminder that being a parent is not just about worrying and about blaming ourselves for things that go wrong but about accepting that life happens and that you can only help your children as much as they are willing to help themselves, I desperately needed that . Thank you for caring so much about people in general. Thank you for being an amazing example to the rest of us how we can all make a difference. Thank you for the reminder that for those of us who have been blessed enough to get out of our neighborhoods and pull off a better future we must always go back and pay it forward. I didn't come from the same neighborhood you came from, I grew up in Los Angeles and I can't say that I lived through have the atrocities that you did but I was well reminded on how lucky I am to be standing here, free. I never had to step inside a jail and that although my mother was crazy she kept us in lock down regularly and I'm grateful for that today. May you have an amazing blessed life and a long long life where you can continue to be an inspiration to many in your shoes as well as to those of us who have been blessed enough to get out alive without a scratch. Other than the horrible memories. Thank you my brother, thank you for sharing without fear or shame because accepting one's faults and mistakes should never hold you hostage forever. Thank you for never holding back. May you meet an amazing woman to share your life with, may you be blessed with health, wealth, happiness and love. I have started a Master Plan with my 10 year old son and working on my daughters and I plan to share this with as many people are willing to listen . Thanks you. #FreeTookie

A rebellious boy's journey through the wilds of urban America and the shrapnel of a self-destructing family - this is the riveting story of a generation told through one dazzlingly poetic new voice. MK Asante was born in Zimbabwe to American parents: a mother who led the new nation's dance company and a father who would soon become a revered pioneer in Black studies. But things fell apart, and a decade later MK was in America, a teenager lost in a fog of drugs, sex, and violence on the streets of North Philadelphia.

One decision can place you on a different path
Reviewed: 01-20-19
What a beautiful story of Courage, love for yourself, love and respect for others, the importance of educating yourself through reading the right type of literature and selecting friendships with the right people, as we'll as his willingness to accept change and trust in God as a parent can shift your child's path forever. MK Asante displayed such strength to withstand the many abrupt life changes, he allowed himself the opportunity to try a different path despite his current circumstances and that makes this young man extraordinary. I know in my heart there are millions of MK Asante's in the world. I hope more of them come across teachers and staff like MK did at his last school. Teachers who want to make a difference in a young persons life should have them read this book as proof that all they have to decide is that they are worth a better life and its in their hands to accept the change. Especially for those who are fortunate enough to have this opportunity afforded to them.
