WOW - A new type of enemy for the Gray Man

Previous Gray Man novels dealt with corrupt government officials and the underworld of assassins. This time, the enemy is different and catches up with the Gray Man and Anthem as they attempt to get away from the madness. From Guatemala, to Columbia, to battles in Mexico and a climax in Cuba that will leave you screaming at Mark Greaney for his next book! Jay Snyder always does an amazing job with narration - worth the listen!

I'm a fan of J.N. Chaney so when this initial book for a new series was announced, I immediately put it on my wish list. The story is written in young adult fashion and seems to focus on that demographic based on the main characters. Nonetheless, it is entertaining as long as you're not one of those sci-fi readers that expects long explanations on the "science" of space travel or the possibility of alien "venom" turning humans into symbiotic hosts. Jeffrey Kafer is one of the better narrators on Audible so that was another reason for my purchase decision.

Another entertaining thriller for those of us that are fans of President Jack Ryan. The story is engaging and filled with great action scenes - but only at the end of the book. The incorporation of the "campus" was somewhat less interesting as the team adds two new members. I also found that the author often loved to share knowledge of random things, such as how the Panama Canal actually worked. My brain wandered during those exceptionally long descriptive parts like it did in college enduring long lectures on mundane topics. Scott Brick is one of the better narrators on Audible and does an exceptional job in this book.

No Hudson and his stupid beanies in this story. This story takes place in an alternate future and I wonder how it will tie into JR's other books. The action sequences are awesome and kept me tied to the book, making me lose sleep and ignore my co-workers at likely critical times (sorry guys). I love how JR brings back a future Maigo and her connection to nemesis. Not sure how I felt about the "biker" gang joining the crew but entertaining nonetheless. Hoping for more sequels - soon!

I hope this story goes the distance and not like Larson's shorter 3-book stories. The main character is a lucky underdog that seems to be in the right place at all the wrong times - yet succeeds in most cases. Mark Boyett is an awesome narrator and brings the story to life with his different voices for each character.

Unlike previous books, the task force is in the middle of a potentially geopolitical mess. The author provides some amazing descriptions of locations in Sweden and Amsterdam that I now want to visit. The narrator does a great job of voicing each character.

I have no idea how this character survives being tortured and shot multiple times with a 12 gauge bean bag. Regardless, the premise of this story is interesting - stealing an experimental aircraft by accessing vulnerable subcontractors. The battle is fought between Jack Ryan Jr. and a team of mercenaries from South Africa. As you can guess, it doesn't go well for Junior but the adventure is well worth the Audible credit.

Pike and his "family" are on a honeymoon when they run into some mafia types. You can only imagine the violence that ensued. Fun short story that fans of this series will enjoy but if you're not, it's recommended that you start the entire series before purchasing this story.

If you love cats, then this is your book, or you're suffering from toxoplasmosis. Scalzi's humorous scif-fi story is brought to life through the awesome narration of Wil Wheaton. I found myself laughing out loud as I listened to the story and the humor, in my opinion, was the only thing that kept my interest in the book.

This book was more political intrigue and reminiscent of the movie Seven Days in May (1964?). I was hoping for more action but sadly, there wasn't much of that in this book. Bronson Pinchot is not bad as a narrator but occasionally will run several sentences together so it's difficult to tell what's going on (he doesn't pause between sentences).
