If you are a fan of the series, you’ll probably like this one. It’s fun to see Plutarch Hesvensbee and the origin of Effie Trinket in this story. While a prequel, it’s also a sequel to Songbirds and Ballads.

As a general rule, I read the book before seeing the movie. Or listen to it on Audible if time is tight. But not this time. I found myself out of town with time to kill on the day WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING hit the theaters so I went and saw it. I had no idea how good the story was so I started the book right away. I saw the movie again with my wife before eventually finishing the book on Audible. Even having seen the movie twice, I thoroughly enjoyed this recording and I was even moved at pivotal parts of the story even though I knew what to expect. The narrator did a wonderful job in this production. Highly recommend.

I hardly ever listen to the same non-fiction book twice. This book is an exception. While 5 years lapsed between first and second listening, I thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd go maybe even more than the first. Perhaps it's because I own the whole series and it's always fun to revisit the beginning of a journey.

Great story. Satisfying ending that I didn't see coming really early on like many spy novels.

No spoilers here..since I couldn't even finish this book. I gave up on it about 20% into it. No need wasting my precious time. The flaws are too many to list, but here are the major one: 1) If the Gray man is such a good assassin, how does he not figure out who is trying to get him killed? How does he get captured by a crippled old guy? How does his cover get blown so easily? 2) Now if we buy into the fact that he is the most revered and feared assassin, how does he make so many stupid mistakes? How does he even have a reputation? Wouldn't the world's best assassin be so good that no one would know which jobs he performed? He is the best assassin but only takes jobs that satisfy his sense of justice? HUH?! And how can a guy that works for one handler ever become such a famous assassin anyway?

I am REALLY disappointed in this book because I really enjoyed the few Clancy books I read that he was the collaborator/co-author. I almost would say I can't believe this is being made into a movie...but then I think of Twilight and remember that movies no longer need to be base on good source material. If you listen to the book, the narrator is good enough. Not his fault the book is just plain bad. If you want a compelling story about an assassin being hunted by assassins, read the first book in the Victor the Assassin series. It is not the best book in the world, but it is entertaining. And next to this book, it reads like a Pulitzer prize novel.

I am about to start this book for the 3rd time since I purchased it 2 weeks ago. This book is great, even if their sometimes lacks a bit of emotion on the part of the authors. The book doesn't just have theory, but exact instructions and answers on using visualization, affirmations and zeroing in on the ideal customer. Very concise as well, not too much fluff. I enjoy the stories from the authors as they illustrate how they applied the principles. Waiting for the physical copy to get here!
