Story
By 1943, after the catastrophic German defeat at Stalingrad, the Wehmacht's panzer armies gradually lost the initiative on the Eastern Front. The tide of the war had turned. Their combined arms technique, which had swept Soviet forces before it during 1941 and 1942, had lost its edge. Thereafter the war on the Eastern Front was dominated by tank-led offensives and, as Robert Forczyk shows, the Red Army's mechanized forces gained the upper hand, delivering a sequence of powerful blows that shattered one German defensive line after another.

I don't understand the narrator 's need to pronounce certain words with a thick German accent. Reading an entire sentence in normal English and then sticking some word that could have just as easily been continued in English, but with a thick German accent is just weird. for instance, panzer division, where you put an extra syllable in the word division. why don't you just say panzer division?

Story
In No Mission Is Impossible, Michael Bar-Zohar and Nissim Mishal return with the intensely absorbing, fast-paced story of 30 of the boldest missions of the Israeli special forces. Bar-Zohar and Mishal depict in electrifying detail major battles, raids in enemy territory, and death-defying commando missions while also sharing the personal stories of both soldiers and top commanders, revealing their hopes and fears. The stories are often of victories, but sometimes they're of immense failures.

The fake Israeli accent is irritating.
Reviewed: 01-18-22
The stories are all great. switching from regular Americanized English to some kind of fake Israeli accented English is very irritating and unnecessary. I couldn't finish the book.

Story
America has one force with the single mission of direct action to capture or kill the enemy. That force is the 75th Ranger Regiment. Staff Sergeant Paul Martinez was a Ranger Sniper with the 75th Rangers during the desperate fighting in Afghanistan in 2011 when the United States made the decision to try to withdraw from Afghanistan. It was never going to be easy. There were still a large number of senior Taliban and al Qaeda leaders and other terrorists in secure locations throughout that country.

couldn't get past the first chapter. probably a fine story and it may not be the voice artists fault due to the material, but seemed to be a very robotic reading.

The Mongol army led by Genghis Khan subjugated more lands and people in 25 years than the Romans did in 400. In nearly every country the Mongols conquered, they brought an unprecedented rise in cultural communication, expanded trade, and a blossoming of civilization.

Ten years in the research and writing, Presidents of War is a fresh, magisterial, intimate look at a procession of American leaders as they took the nation into conflict and mobilized their country for victory. It brings us into the room as they make the most difficult decisions that face any president, at times sending hundreds of thousands of American men and women to their deaths.

Truman's Korean war experience is talked about quite a bit, but his taking over WW2 after the death of FDR is not covered. I would have liked to have heard that story even though it only took place over the span of a few months.

I'm not 10% into the first chapter and I don't know that I can finish this book because the narrator is so over the top. no one speaks that way. I wish I could get a refund.

Story
The unforgiving Afghan winter settled upon the 22 men of Marine Special Operations Team 8222, call sign Dagger 22, in the remote and hostile river valley of Bala Murghab, Afghanistan. The Taliban fighters in the region would have liked nothing more than to once again go dormant and rest until the new spring fighting season began. No chance of that - this winter would be different.
