Publisher's summary

This program includes a foreword written and read by Nicholas Irving. This audiobook is the thrilling combat memoir by special operations sniper Paul Martinez, who spent seven years in Special Operations and was a sniper assigned to 3rd Ranger Battalion.

America has one force with the single mission of direct action to capture or kill the enemy. That force is the 75th Ranger Regiment. Staff Sergeant Paul Martinez was a Ranger Sniper with the 75th Rangers during the desperate fighting in Afghanistan in 2011 when the United States made the decision to try to withdraw from Afghanistan.

It was never going to be easy. There were still a large number of senior Taliban and al Qaeda leaders and other terrorists in secure locations throughout that country. If the United States withdrew from Afghanistan with these terrorists and their networks still intact, they could quickly take over the country and undo all the gains that we made.

These terrorists needed to be eliminated, and there was only one force to do it - the Rangers. The mission was to capture or kill as many of these terrorists as possible. Paul Martinez was one of the deadliest snipers assigned to this unit, dubbed “Team Merrill,” after the Marauders of World War II fame. Martinez and his fellow Rangers faced near-impossible odds taking on an enemy who knew they were coming and who employed every conceivable tactic to kill these Rangers. In When the Killer Man Comes, Martinez tells the harrowing true story of how he and his team hunted America's enemies in an operation that would have repercussions that are still felt today.

Interesting account from an important time of the GWOT

Entertaining, engrossing and informative. I did find it kind of weird that in the forward Ranger sniper Nick Irving misstated the establishment of the modern Ranger Battalions by about a decade but that was inconsequential. Pretty cool book and I’m glad I picked it up

One hell of a book!

You did a hell of a job man! I love that you’re telling the story, it makes it more interesting to me hearing from the man himself. I’ve read and listened to all Nicholas Irving’s books and it’s nice to hear a different side of the story but from the same group of dudes. Can’t wait for a follow up!

Along with this being a great story its refreshing to hear a military book read with military verbage and slang and sayings pronounced correctly.

A short view on a special forces veteran

This Audiobook explains the how and what a US Ranger goes through both personal and in their professional life. The book does contain a fare bit of military 'slang' but it easy to pick up.

One of the best memoirs I've read.

From the layout of the book to the voice work, the book is top of the line professional and entertaining throughout. As for the stories they are exceptional and will be kept in my long-term memory. I highly recommend this book, if you are interested in special operations & sniper memoirs, this is the one you should read next!

Excellent story

Paul is humble in telling his story. The book left me wanting to hear more stories of Paul’s time on deployment.
