All of these books are so good, but the cat and mouse dynamic between Maxu and Meg is a fave for me. It was also very enjoyable to hear about all of the different cities they visited while traveling all over Clecania. The twist at the end has me dying to know what comes next. Narrator is fantastic! His voice gives me chills.

This is my second Cathy Yardley listen after Role Playing, which is a pretty new title. I enjoyed Role Playing so much that I decided to try this series.

This is a super cute story. It's fun and interesting without taking itself too seriously. The steamy parts are a real vibe. Lots of feels in this one without a lot of stress, which is exactly what I was looking for. It's not as mature as Role Playing, but the characters in this one are about half the age of the characters in Role Playing, so I think it makes sense. I'm excited to listen to the next book in the series! I'm a bit of a quirky nerd myself, so I really appreciate where Cathy's humor comes from.

The further I get into this series, the more I enjoy the books. There's fun action, steamy romance, and a dash of political intrigue. I find them enjoyable. I quite liked Andi. She turned out to be pretty badass!

With the exception of the Midwinter Magic novella, this is the last in the Rockliffe Series. I have listened to the entire series twice and this book, alongside The Player and Hazard are probably my favorites in the series, although all of the characters are fantastic. Julian is such a great and kind character and Arabella is playful and mischievous. The story of Elizabeth and Ralph is a wonderful foil to their romance. There are just so many good feels in this one. I just finished it and I feel like I'm already ready for a relisten. I'm glad to know that I can anticipate more from this family and these characters in the Brandon Brothers series.

I'm currently listening to this series for the second time and enjoying it immensely. This has been one of my favorites in the entire series as it covers a breadth of emotions. I laughed, I cried and experienced many other emotions in between. Alex Wyndham's performance of Aristide is swoon worthy. Many bookmarks were utilized.

I've listened to this series more than once and this continues to be a favorite. The drama and the stakes are gripping. Adrian and Caroline are two of the most memorable lords and ladies in the series and their love story was just as moving the second time around. Alex Wyndham gives a great performance, getting to play so many unique and varied characters. So good!!!

Lauren Fortgang is a great narrator!!!

I know some people will be disappointed with the change in narrator for this book. Emma Galvin did a great job embodying the spirit and sass of Rylee for many books before this one! That being said, Lauren Fortgang did an admirable job keeping the voices and accents of our favorite characters cohesive with the previous audiobooks. She also has a great vocal range for male voices and does a variety of accents flawlessly. Many key players from the previous books are involved in this one and her skills allowed me to continue listening while still easily differentiating between the many character voices. Not saying Emma Galvin is not likewise talented, but I was familiar with Lauren Fortgang from other book series, and so being, had high expectations for her performance; and I was not disappointed! I'm a big fan and strongly encourage anyone on the fence for this one to keep an open mind and give LF a fair chance.

Well Written and Great Slow Burn

I am new to books by C.J. Archer, but not to historical fantasy/romance as a genre. This is probably one of the best slow burn dynamics I have encountered. Archer does a great job of building tension and intrigue without utilizing a huge variety of settings and props. Much of the books take place within the home of the protagonists but the story still manages to be complex and interesting with answers given and loose ends tied. Just the right amount of danger and adventure. Even my partner found himself drawn in while I was listening. I will definitely be listening to the rest of the series and others by C.J. Archer. It is a huge relief to find another lengthy historical fantasy series that is not a cookie cutter approach.

The narrator is pretty good though her male voices are sometimes difficult to distinguish, but overall I have not been taken out of the story very many times from being confused about who is speaking. I also feel like her voice is perfectly suited to voicing the thoughts of the heroine, Charlie. Since the story is told from her perspective, I think the narrator is an appropriate choice for this series.

Note: The series is categorized as historical and fantasy genre but not romance. I was a little concerned about this as I love a little bit of romance in my books. It is not a romance series, but there is an aspect of romance woven within the main story arcs for those of us who like that stuff. Would highly recommend to those looking for a romantic storyline or those who prefer the plot to focus on mystery and fantasy.
