Story
How can so many people pledge allegiance to punk, something with no fixed identity? Depending on who and where you are, punk can be an outlet, excuse, lifestyle, escapism, conversation, community, ideology, sales category, social movement, punishable offense, badge of authenticity, reason to drink beer forever, or an aesthetic of belligerent incompetence. Sam McPheeters championed many different versions. Over the course of two decades, he fronted Born Against, released dozens of records and fanzines, and toured 17 times across the northern hemisphere.

I love this.
Raw, honest, sad, funny, moving.
Being a huge fan going into this, I knew I would love it, but this was a rare case of something exceeding my expectations.
She's inspiring!
Thank you Sinead O'Connor!

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Halfway through, I was gritting my teeth agonizing over whether or not to just quit, but I couldn't let the whodunit go.
I should have.

Story
The Remains of the Day is a profoundly compelling portrait of the perfect English butler and of his fading, insular world in postwar England. At the end of his three decades of service at Darlington Hall, Stevens embarks on a country drive, during which he looks back over his career to reassure himself that he has served humanity by serving "a great gentleman". But lurking in his memory are doubts about the true nature of Lord Darlington's "greatness" and graver doubts about his own faith in the man he served.

Read by them and some of their friends.
I've been a fan since the mid-80's.
Hilarious, amazing, lighthearted, and surprisingly touching.

There have been a few books recently which I have had in both physical form, and in audiobook, in which each is different. The fact that David Lynch goes off script occasional really makes this.

Story
Doug Stanhope has been drunkenly stumbling down the back roads and dark alleys of stand-up comedy for over a quarter of a century, roads laden with dank bars, prostitutes, cheap drugs, farm animals, evil dwarfs, public nudity, menacing third-world police, psychotic breaks, sex offenders, and some understandable suicides. You know, just for levity. While other comedians were seeking fame, Stanhope was seeking immediate gratification, dark spectacle, or sometimes just his pants.

Better than the book!
Reviewed: 06-18-18
It's fair to say that both of Stanhope's books thus far, are greatly improved in the telling. Each chapter of this audiobook far exceeds its written counterpart, with the inclusion of extra color-commentary, additions, and corrections by many of the people involved in the actual events.
If, however, you're not familiar with his particular brand of stand-up, do yourself a favor and check out some of his stuff on YouTube before beginning this book. It's definitely not for everyone.
