Story
As the daughter of a drug dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. It's safer to keep her mouth shut and stay out of sight. Struggling to raise her little brother, Donal, eight-year-old Wavy is the only responsible adult around. Obsessed with the constellations, she finds peace in the starry night sky above the fields behind her house until one night her stargazing causes an accident. After witnessing his motorcycle wreck, she forms an unusual friendship with one of her father's thugs, Kellen, a tattooed ex-con with a heart of gold.

Conflicted in my review
Reviewed: 02-24-25
This was a hard read. So much pain and tragedy. Kept me engaged and I loved the characters but I am still not sure if it was a love story or an epic tragedy.
Very well written. It's the kind of book that sticks with you.
The audio had some glitches. Repeated li es a few times. Obvious start/stop points in the narration. Amazing all the voices she produced though.

Story
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

I didn’t want it to end

I appreciate the tone of the novel. The perspective and honest character of Phoebe. I found the story very well told and engaging. It was recommended and I’m so glad I took a chance on the novel.
It was nice to engage with several different characters throughout the book and really gave depth to the main storyline. On top of all of this, I loved the narrator, Helen Laser.

Story
When a passenger jet crashes onto the beaches of Waikiki, bestselling thriller writer Ian Ludlow knows the horrific tragedy wasn’t an accident. Years before, the CIA enlisted Ian to dream up terrorism scenarios to prepare the government for nightmares they couldn’t imagine. Now one of those schemes has come true, and Ian is the only person alive who knows how it was done...and who is behind the plot. That makes him too dangerous to live. Ian goes on the run, sweeping up an innocent bystander in his plight - Margo French, a dog walker and aspiring singer.

Interested by the end

I have read many books by this author. I love the Eve Ronin series and the Fox and O’Hare series.
Because of that I had high hopes. Explicit sexual content seemed unnecessary and out of line with his other novels. The story was interesting, but I am on the fence if I will continue with Ian Ludlow.
