Paycheck book.

This book is a review of Ancient Greek philosophers. This is not like Ryan’s previous books where you leave with introspective thoughts - rather it’s like a college students thesis summarizing a bunch of Greek lives and their contributions towards philosophy. I found it quite boring.

When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didn’t know he would die that night in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan - but he was ready: In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, "I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me."

A riveting story of redemption, bravery, courage, love and overcoming obstacles. Adam Brown is a role model and an amazing example of perseverance and grit.
The author and narrator make Adam Brown one of your close friends. Even though you know how it ends - you pray that somehow the words can be altered so the heartbreak doesn’t need to happen. Have a box of tissues for the end. It’s a shame that such a good man had to die. God bless him and his family.

The book / story is amazing. What makes it even better is the narrator. He does an absolute stunning job of changing his accent for the various characters.
Things seem to go from bad to worse to unfathomable with vivid detail. I have read many books on WWII and the Holocaust. This captures details that i wasn’t familiar with.
A tough but worthwhile listen for all.

Story
Author Leslie Lehr wants to talk about boobs. She’s gone from size AA to DDD and everything between, from puberty to motherhood, enhancement to cancer, and beyond. And she’s not alone - these are classic life stages for women today. At turns funny and heartbreaking, A Boob’s Life explores both the joys and hazards inherent to living in a woman’s body. Lehr deftly blends her personal narrative with national history, starting in the 1960s with the women’s liberation movement and moving to the current feminist dialogue and what it means to be a woman.

The beginning of the book was gripping and good enough to leave some good books. The end of the book was a complaining against the political system and generalized it as men vs women. She states when women vote against women it hurts them all. It’s as if we should just vote for a woman regardless of her ability and political stance. There was no mention that Sarah Palin was the first female VP nominee and that the democrats made her look like an idiot just as she states women shouldn’t treat each other.
If you’re a feminist you’ll like the book. If you’re a regular guy that wants to know what women think about boobs - you’ll learn a few things.

Story
When Brendan Leonard moved to the West at age 23, he was a mess. He had a tenuous grip on sobriety, only six months after his last drink had landed him in yet another jail cell. It was the final mistake in a long list that included multiple arrests, wrecked cars, broken bones, fistfights, and ruined relationships. In Montana, he took his first steps into the Rocky Mountains, unwittingly beginning a decade-long obsession with climbing and a journey that would take him all over the West and Europe.

It felt like a story that kept waiting to get going but there was never enough meat to make it very interesting. The end with him focusing on grandmas death didn’t fit with the rest of the book.
It was fine, whatever- I wouldn’t recommend it.

Story
In 1906 I was barely over 14 years old, and it was my wedding day. My older sister, Helen, came to my room, took me by the hand, and sat me down on the bed. She said, "You've always been a good girl, Maude, and done what I told you. Now you're going to be a married woman, and he will be the head of the house. When you go home tonight after your party, no matter what he wants to do to you, you have to let him do it. Do you understand?"

Every time something good happens in Maude's life something tragic would be up next. Her story of perseverance and dedication to her values and beliefs are amazing. As a whole her life's story is unremarkable, however the way she persevered through loss after loss, struggling through the depression and troubled marriages, is inspiring and shows depth in the life of all of us.
I found myself analyzing my life while reading this hoping that I'm not the type of husband that George was. I'm trying to be a good son like her Gene was.
The narration was excellent and made the book that much more enjoyable to listen to.

Great explanation on theory of meditation.
Reviewed: 04-02-15
Where does Practicing Mindfulness: An Introduction to Meditation rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Middle of the road. The information was useful but mainly because it added to my previous and current meditation experience. With this book only I would still be at a loss on how to meditate.
What did you like best about this story?
His explanation on the theory of meditation was excellent. The "how to" meditate is severely lacking. Use the app Headspace for a much easier way to learn how to meditate.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Professor Mark W. Muesse?
Yes, maybe. I found it best when I had this on at 3x. Otherwise it was painfully slow.
What did you learn from Practicing Mindfulness: An Introduction to Meditation that you would use in your daily life?
You just need to do it.
Any additional comments?
This book teaches more of the theory and benefits of meditation more so than how to. There are some basic things that he outlines, however, for the most part he teaches the benefits of meditation and how it can help you. This book in conjunction with guided meditation through an app like HeadSpace can be very helpful.

Leonard Mlodinow, the best-selling author of The Drunkard’s Walk and coauthor of The Grand Design (with Stephen Hawking), gives us a startling and eye-opening examination of how the unconscious mind shapes our experience of the world and how, for instance, we often misperceive our relationships with family, friends, and business associates, misunderstand the reasons for our investment decisions, and misremember important events.

Where does Subliminal rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It was the first book I've listened to ever, so it is top tier for sure.
What did you like best about this story?
There are so many fascinating stories about how people's memories are distorted and how our vision changes over time to what we wanted it to be. As a business professional, I appreciate this book as it helps me see things through other's point of view as well as how my own point of view is often skewed through my own life's experiences.
Which character – as performed by Leonard Mlodinow – was your favorite?
No characters. It's a non-fiction book. Clown Question
What insight do you think you’ll apply from Subliminal?
The way I interact with people on a day in day out basis is changing. I am trying to look at things through their perspective first to see if their input may be more valuable than my own.
