One by one, people are mysteriously disappearing from a small Maine town. Four months ago, a ruthless murderer killed two people and kidnapped three more, including Danny Sullivan’s sister, who barely escaped. Loved the narrator! Prefer one voice instead of made up voices. Fun to learn about Celtic artifacts.

Story
Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Loved this book. Always a fan of historical novels but this was based on a series of events that actually happened. Never lost interest in the "story". You can tell how well it was researched and now I am looking to read some non-fiction regarding same. Also am going to read more by this author!!!

Story
When Nell’s father makes a deathbed declaration that hints at a long-held secret, it reignites feelings of isolation that have plagued her for years. Her suspicions about the family’s past only deepen when her mother, Annie, who is losing her memories to dementia, starts making cryptic comments of her own. Thirty-five years earlier, Annie’s life was upended by a series of traumas - one shock after another that she buried deep in her heart. The decisions she made at the time were motivated by love, but she knew even then that nobody could ever understand what she did.

Talk about a page turner! The story is a common one although the author did not allow me to figure it out until the character did. A mystery for sure. I wish the ending could have been just a little longer to continue the happiness of the character but it was still satisfying.
