I am a fan of book series but I prefer when one story finishes fully. understandably, the author wants you to want to read their next books but some form of closure for this book would have been nice.

Pretty good story

Honestly, I liked this story and understand there is a great deal that needs to be done in order to build to the actual red rising. I suppose I simply thought I was walking into more of a rebellion instead of what I walked into. I'll have to see what the other stories hold.

Story
Teri and Phil had never needed their own personal god. But when Phil is passed up for a promotion - again - it's time to take matters into their own hands. And look online. Choosing a god isn't as simple as you would think. There are too many choices; and they often have very hefty prices for their eternal devotion: blood, money, sacrifices, and vows of chastity. But then they find Luka, raccoon god of prosperity. All he wants is a small cut of their good fortune. Oh - and to crash on their couch for a few days.

I've read most of A. Lee Martinez's available works and I can't help but love them. They are funny, satirical, witty, and even insightful at times. Divine Misfortune is a great read with fantastic twists and turns. Once you finish this one, I suggest either A Nameless Witch or Helen and Troy's epic road trip. Both will have you laughing at one point or another.

Ruthless and supremely powerful, the Great Library is now a presence in every major city, governing the flow of knowledge to the masses. Alchemy allows the library to deliver the content of the greatest works of history instantly - but the personal ownership of books is expressly forbidden. Jess Brightwell believes in the value of the library, but the majority of his knowledge comes from illegal books obtained by his family, who are involved in the thriving black market.

Poor, Poor Protagonist
Reviewed: 04-08-16
If anything else this story if creative and imaginative on ways to beat the protagonist up. I did, in fact, like the story and the idea the library at Alexandra may exist in some alternative dimension. I just wasn't thrilled I had to go page after page watching this kid get used by his parents, brother, friends, and mentors. That's not very fun.

Okay at best
Reviewed: 03-02-16
Usually I enjoy coming off after stories as characters find themselves among the chaos of life. however, this story didn't catch me. More that anything, I feel the text was too simple, too many "I said" ,"she said ", " he said " moments. There were also many simple sentences that did not build a strong text.

A wonderfully woven tale
Reviewed: 03-01-16
As each story ends a new one begins and in a world of woe, worry, and wonder, we all need a bit of music to touch our souls and pull us together. This was the first book I have truly loved in a while. There's a touch of magic as though a fairy tale is unfolding but the individual element of each character feels honest and relatable.

when I started this book, I honestly didn't know what to expect. As i made my way through, I realized it's a sort of fairy tale/ suspense if that can be combine between two covers of a book. there were points I wish I had more or wish the author had taken it further but overall I liked it.
