Great!

This is a great overview of American history. It definitely focuses more on domestic issues and skips over foreign affairs such as WWI and WWII.

Story
From across the sea, they came by the thousands, escaping war and poverty in southern China to seek their fortunes in America. Converging on the enormous western worksite of the Transcontinental Railroad, the migrants spent years dynamiting tunnels through the snow-packed cliffs of the Sierra Nevada and laying tracks across the burning Utah desert. Their sweat and blood fueled the ascent of an interlinked, industrial United States. But those of them who survived this perilous effort would be pushed to the margins of American life and then to the fringes of public memory.

I picked up this book because I saw some great reviews. I was not a huge fan of it. It is very detailed and can get VERY slow. If you are interested in this topic and know some basic information I would suggest to get this book. If not, look for another book.

Story
Perhaps no other symbol has more resonance in African American history than that of "40 acres and a mule" - the lost promise of Black reparations for slavery after the Civil War. In I've Been Here All the While, we meet the Black people who actually received this mythic 40 acres, the American settlers who coveted this land, and the Native Americans whose holdings it originated from.

This book was fantastic. You should have some basic knowledge of the west, Native Americans, and African Americans. It is easy to follow. However, the narrator was just okay.

An amazing thrilling book that is detail with such history that it is unbelievable and it does not seem like a history book.this book is a really true history book that more history books should be there like. It enables one to actually feel what is going on in the brilliantly written book by Bill O'Reilly. He is an awesome writer as we've seen in killing Lincoln and killing Kennedy this is a must read book for anyone who is interested in World War II!
