Story
Eight years ago, the older and irresistible Kane Hudson rocked my world. He saw me as more than just a shy and awkward premed student. And somehow, he helped me to see myself too. He made me believe I was beautiful and that dreams were worth fighting for. He was a dream. Then, without warning, it all came to an end. He went off to England and I headed to medical school. My hope was to never see the man again. That was wishful thinking. Now we're both back in my hometown and, as luck would have it, we are both vying to become the next CEO of my family's blood plasma company.

It's OK

This was my first book by this author and while I thought it was good, it wasn't my favorite romcom. I trusted the other reviews and got super excited to have an awesome experience and was a little let down.
The good: A fun storyline. I laughed a bit. I even had a few tears leak out. I did like Scarlett's personality for the most part.
The bad: Kane wasn't a hero I cared for. In fact, I was hoping some other guy would come in and swoop her away from Kane. I hated the way the narrator said Scarlett's name in Kane's voice. It sounded creepy.
The ugly: There were some repeated things... a lot. I didn't need the constant reminder that she had cake crumbs caught in her bra. I also thought the french kissing scenes were all so much the same that it meant nothing to me. And seriously, how hard did he push his tongue in and she never puked? It just didn't make me think swoony. I was grossed out by the time he was pushing her against the car with his tongue down her throat.

Entertaining and Enjoyable

The Enduring Promises of the Heart series is enjoyable and fun. Loveless and Bradford do a wonderful job with the dramatized narration. The pirate voice is done well. Mary and Liz are enjoyable characters. Lavender and John have another high stakes adventure bound to entertain the listener/reader. Can't wait to see what Loveless brings to us next!

Story
The year is 1887, and the small community of Pleasant View is abuzz over Penelope Pottifer’s serialized romances in the local paper. Since the release of the first volume, the thrilling story has captured the hearts and minds of the entire town - and several towns over! Each successive edition of the Pleasant View Gazette spins a breathtaking tale of kidnappers, pirates, and forbidden love. Between volumes, however, Pleasant View resident Mary Clarence, the story’s toughest critic, hears a rumor that Penelope Pottifer is not, in fact, the author’s real name.

Narrator wasn't for Me

This story was excellent. I'm a big fan of Rachel Anderson. But I was not a fan of the narrator. I thought I was listening to a person speaking to children most of the time.
