short story but not my favorite

I don't know why I disliked Santino Fontana's narration so much on this, but maybe I'm too familiar with his voice from being on "Crazy Ex-girlfriend."

This book was sort of interesting from a psych angle, but it's not romantic or witty enough to carry the back and forth banter.

I don't really buy the story.

I've loved a lot of the stories that Cara Bastone has done for Audible, but this one misses the mark for me.

Luckily, it's short, so it can be finished in a few hours, if you want to try it out.

This is so sweet, and great voice acting, especially the main characters. It's upbeat, and sometimes deep and thoughtful, and there is a time travel element. Enjoy!

too much C-PTSD for what is supposed to be a light romance read

I would give this 2.5 stars, round up to 3: too much C-PTSD for what is supposed to be a light romance read.

This was so hard to get through for me, even though I liked the characters. It was so much about triggers, trauma, neglect, and acting out or in, and skipping over the healing parts.

As someone who has dealt with my own version of what the female main character goes through, by the end of the book, I was sick of hearing the word, "broken."

I think what really got me here is that people kept telling me it was a light book, and the fun cover and title matched that.

Even with the trigger warning, I thought, "this can't be that bad."

I was wrong.

I almost gave up on this book so many times, and would turn it off when hearing that there was more drama.

I read the first book, "Part of your world," and I loved it. Maybe it was because that one had a goat.

This one had a toilet king... so no thanks.

Lucky for the female main character that she already has someone who knows how to handle her, or this book would have been a a different kind of tragedy.

it's a story, not just sounds to sleep to

This was not what I expected it was going to be, but after reading the other review on her, I enjoyed it.

It's more like a nature documentary than something to sleep to as I thought it was going to be.

The narrator talks the whole time, telling a story and facts about a fennec fox in his journey to get food before going home to go to sleep.

I thought it was just going to be sounds of the fennec fox, instead of a story.

It took me 4 times through before I heard the whole story, as I kept falling asleep, so it does work as a sleep aid.

I would try this series again, now that I know what it's about.

Suspend belief for the whole book to enjoy

3.5 stars for me, but I'll round it up to 4 because I enjoyed it being mostly the lightest thing I've read in a while.

Full on Disney fans, especially Disney adults, will probably love this.

It's dual POV, and have labeled as queer, so I thought the main characters would be together, but they are best friends (according to what they say, but not the way they act with each other, sometimes.

You have to suspend belief A LOT in this book.

I do know enough Disney moments to picture what is happening with the words, but if you don't know the Disney movies well, you'll be lost during some of the most magical parts of the book.

This author's Windy City Magic series is one of my favorites, so I've wanted to read this for a while.

This is nowhere near as engaging, but again, this seems like it was written for people who are into things that I am not.

Charming, and the banter is witty. And neverending as the banter is the story.

Honestly, this type of travel day had me vicariously exhausted. I dreamed in the middle of the book that they would insert 30 minutes to an hour of silence from talking, and just the sounds of the traffic going by.

The voice actors are great, and every one of them is different, but it's not overwhelming. I liked all of them.

Overall, a cute story for listening to, with depth and clean but interesting, no spice story.

After the devastation of the last book, this one was a welcome and satisfying ending. Even with the point of view and narrator change.

I found this series because I was searching for books narrated by Suzy Jackson, as I love her voice. She is a great narrator for middle grade books, and I find her voice very comforting.

However, I had a hard time reconciling the sweet voice with the hardness of the Bastille character. Maybe that's just me, because of my association with her voice with Amelia Jones in the Mystwick School of Musikcraft audiobook series.

Overall, I'm glad I read this series. It was more action adventure stories than I usually read, but it also had interesting characters, humor, and lots of heart.

Plus puns, and meta things for the writers out there.

My inner 13 year old child wishes I had this sweet, innocent, yet equally mayhem encouraging series when I was that age.
