Like not Love
Reviewed: 11-08-20
I prefer to read Elin’s single stories rather than her series. I found the two she has written to lag a bit in places. I find my attention drifting and thinking about starting another book instead of finishing. I like this series but didn’t love it. It started out great but ran dry as it went on.

I’m glad I didn’t listen to a few of the negative reviews I saw. They said the author put in her political opinion. She didn’t. The story was about what was going on in each year. She was spot on. I found the story romantic and thrilling. If you like the authors other work you will love this one! Audiobooks are made or ruined by the narrator. She does a great job.

Story
Sophie Kinsella's debut is a romp through the perils of shopping and spending, spending, spending! Becky can't resist a sale, and she's only a little overdrawn on her VISA. Readers will laugh aloud at Becky's retail adventures as she finds new and creative ways to relieve her increasingly credit card debt. Emily Gray's narration bounces along with Becky and her buying whims, while delivering a humorous account of what happens when credit goes bad.

This book was originally a series of missives between a financially independent father and his son who was about to embark on his life’s own question for financial achievement. It helped me expand my knowledge on wealth and find a deeper meaning to it in my personal experience. I enjoyed the story format. It kept things interesting and intriguing.

I stopped listening because I couldn't stand the narration. Maybe the story would be ok in hard copy. It wasn't so compelling though that I could tolerate the narration so I don't think I will take a chance and waste more money by purchasing a hard copy.

This is a fantastic book. The story was really hard to follow with the lack luster narration however. There was very little variation in the voices so it was hard to keep track of the character changes.

The story line would entertain a teenager, up to 21 years even. I remember watching the Hill's when I was first in college and it appealed to me. I bought the book because I had numbers 2 and 3 in my library and wanted to read the series again. Now I realize too much time has passed.

Warmed My Heart
Reviewed: 05-10-14
I saw the reviews on this book and wanted to read it immediately. I read What Alice Forgot and Loved it. The narration made this book equally enjoyable to the story line (I say with audio it doesn't matter how good the book is, the narrator can ruin it). This book kept me on the edge of my seat, inspired me and warmed my heart. The characters are so vivid and easy to relate to. The story line sparked deep questions and ultimately had a good message.
