Story
In the early 2000s, after years of hard work and determination to breakthrough as an actor, Bethany Joy Lenz was finally cast as one of the leads on the hit drama One Tree Hill. Her career was about to take off, but her personal life was slowly beginning to unravel. What none of the show’s millions of fans knew, hidden even from her costars, was her secret double life in a cult. An only child who always wanted a place to belong, Lenz found the safe haven she’d been searching for in a Bible study group with other Hollywood creatives. However, the group soon morphed into something more sinister.

Story
There is a new revolution happening in sports as more and more athletes are basing their success on this game-changing combination: health, nutrition, training, recovery, and mindset. Unfortunately, the evidence-based techniques that the expert PhDs, academic institutions, and professional performance staffs follow can be in stark contrast to what many athletes actually practice. When combined with the noise of social media, old-school traditions, and bro-science, it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction.

Story
We are living in unprecedented times when Christian leaders are renouncing their faith and large numbers of believers are falling away. Is this the final apostasy prophesied by Jesus and Paul? And can we do anything to help those struggling with their faith? In Why So Many Christians Have Left the Faith, Dr. Michael L. Brown confronts the problem of “Christian deconstruction” with solid, faith-building answers and honest responses to difficult questions.

Good start and I feel that the author addresses why many christians leave the faith. The middle to end of the book is devoted to why you should believe and gives high-level summaries of some topics like textual criticism. I felt that the many topics near the end of the book weren't the greatest fit.
On the other hand, I actually enjoyed Dr. Browne's insights on Hell and Christian's struggle with sin.

Many Christians today feel overwhelmed as they try to live faithfully in a culture that seems increasingly hostile to their beliefs. Politics, marriage, sexuality, religious freedom - with an ever-growing list of contentious issues, believers find it harder than ever to hold on to their convictions while treating their friends, neighbors, coworkers, and even family members who disagree with respect and compassion.

Story
At the verge of turning 40, Peter Sagal - brainiac Harvard grad, short, bald Jew with a disposition toward heft, and a sedentary star of public radio - started running seriously. And much to his own surprise, he kept going, faster and further, running 14 marathons and logging tens of thousands of miles on roads, sidewalks, paths, and trails all over the US and the world, including the 2013 Boston Marathon, where he crossed the finish line moments before the bombings.

Book was a nice listen/read. You can tell Peter is a wonderful writer.
Near the middle, the book feels a little inconsiderate in its voice. For example, he a comment about being stupid if one believes in intelligent design, which seemed thrown in there as a general aside and unrelated to the general story.
Overall an interesting story and worth the listen.

Got boring and an ending that didn’t make the book worth it
Reviewed: 07-22-19
Started off good and I thought I would relate. Nothing happens in the end with the aliens and we are left to guess at what or what did not happen. Henry even finds himself second guessing of the aliens even exist. The end message just wasn’t inspiring, we are the ants so we keep marching on. Idk how that message is supposed to inspire or comfort, beyond giving a very simple reason to not press our own button.
