Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Barrie Anne Blythe and her aunt Charlotte have always known that the other residents of their small coastal community find them peculiar - two women living alone on the outskirts of town. It is the price of concealing their strange and dangerous family secret. But two events threaten to upend their lives forever. The first is the arrival of a mysterious abandoned baby with a hint of power like their own. The second is the sudden reappearance of Barrie Anne's long-lost husband - who is not quite the man she thought she married.

A major mistake that editors and narrator made. Love the story but cringed every time the word was mispronounced (the p and s are silent).

Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

I regret buying this audio book
Reviewed: 02-05-22
The story of The Ladies of the Secret Circus contains some intrigue so I struggled to listen to the end. My thoughts wandered continuously wondering how the decision was made when the narrator was selected. What make this audio book painful is the unfortunate lisp. The Ladieth of the thecret thircuth, who spend thome time in the thity of Parith and occasionally wear thunglatheth and thucthethfully tholve the mythtery, well, you get my point. Couple that with the French accent that travels through Russia and Italy I frequently wondered what was said . I heard so many mispronounciations of the name Lara; Laura. mara, lar, larth, lura and more. It was annoying as all get out. I do not recommend because of the narration. Buy the printed book.

Story
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.
