My first Devney Perry book and what have I been doing with my life?

I devoured this book and am kinda mad I read it so quickly cuz now it’s over already. I love a good second-chance romance and this one delivers. Indya and West have known each other for decades but only see each other for a week each year. As they grow up, they come together but then also grow apart. Life hits them both pretty hard and after years of no contact Indya thrusts herself back into West’s life.

You get dual POV and flashbacks and it all balances so well. I really enjoyed the small glimpses back in time and felt such pangs of heartache for both Indya and West. I also appreciated that there was no unnecessary third act break up in this one, Indya and West just handle life and all the shit that comes with it so well together.

Now I’ll just be spending my summer going and reading all of Devney Perry’s backlist.

Casually wondering what it's like to be at the top of your game?! Does EmHen ever miss??

This book is everywhere, as it should be. Emily Henry is an absolute goddess of women’s fiction, contemporary romance and witty dialogue. Funny Story was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and I couldn’t wait to dive headfirst right into it. I made my whole family go to B&N on release day so I could get my hands on it as soon as possible.

Spoiler: it was worth the hype, this book is fu¢king flawless. I immediately want to reread it. I want to be friends with Daphne and Miles. Also, I'm pretty sure I am the Ashley Emily put in this book.

I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud while listening to this. The dialogue and banter is next level and the way that @justjuliawhelan brings each character to life is so remarkable. I will die on this hill: the only way to read EmHen is to have Julia Whelan read it to you. The absolute chipper delivery of lines like “I’d rather eat aluminum foil, but you two have a blast!” and “Normally I’d rather shave my legs with a broken beer bottle” had me cackling.

If you have already, put this one on your tbr but also go for the audio version. Emily Henry + Julia Whelan are my absolute dream team.

When I am able to form coherent thoughts, I’ll be back with a review but in the meantime it’s a yes. A big messy yes.

Childhood best friends to lovers

I never thought I was a huge fan of friends to lovers but the more books I read like that, it is quickly proving to be a favorite.

In this one you get fake dating that turns these childhood friends into lovers and damn if that aint a recipe for a good time.

Laniah and Isaac, ilysm. For real. This story is so swoony and steamy and just so real. Laniah is just trying to get by and in scoops Issac who is like, ‘yeah babe is nbd, you I can pretend to be your guy and I can make all your dreams come true.’ OH OKAYYYY! Safe to say, Issac really sold the fake relationship.

There's a whole lot more to this story though, with all that swoony romance we also get some pretty heavy shit- past trauma and current health issues. None of it felt glossed over, rather it made this story so much more tangible as so much of it was relatable.

Need a good romance that isn't really a ‘summer read’? Pick this one up, it's wonderful!

Another first for me here with Catherine Cowles and another huge backlist I now need to go back and read because wow.

I loved this story, i love how we get small-town romance with a side of suspense and a cast of fun characters that I can keep coming back to as each of their stories develops.

I have to say, I really struggled with the MMC being names Anson and having a sister named Greta. It’s giving Hansel and Gretel and I could not get past it. It was singularly a me problem, i know that. Buy wut? You could literally pick any name in the entire universe and that's what we landed on?

Anywayyyy this one was golden. Rhodes is lost and found and lonely and loved. And as it turns out, also obsessed over. Anson is lost and found too, best friends with Rhodes’ brother and in need of some color in his life.

They bond over past trauma and unspoken touches and they way they fall into one another is so natural, you can’t help but swoon. I love this story of healing with a side of stalker, it hits on all fronts.

This one is a KU read and i feel like i’ve seen a lot of this book and the series it is part of so I grabbed it. I know I read a lot of romance so maybe I just hit my threshold for the month, but this one just didn’t smack the way i was expecting.

Its a good ole billionaire romance- but the twist with this one is that the billionaire in question is the brother to the female leads ex. He has his adorable nickname for her and clearly has adored her from afar for a while.

He sweeps her off her feet and it has all the things you want in a romance, its fake dating meets brothers ex, meets he falls first and hard so i can't figure out what about it that didn’t resonate with me. It definitely has an audience with romance readers though so if billionaires are your jam, Beck Sinclair is for you!

Small town
Enemies to lovers
Sexy af boxer
Fine twist my arm, I guess I will need to devour this book in one sitting.

This was my first Laura Pavlov and it’s safe to say the urge to drop all other responsibilities and read all her other books is v strong.

Pretty sure if I was Demi, I would lick the sweat off Romeo’s body, family feuds be damned. I mean she basically does so I’m clearly here for it.

I love that this one gave us depth with the backstory of each character, while also giving us a love story and setting up a whole town where 4 more stories would be told without feeling like too much.

It was perfect and cozy and sexy and I want to read them all immediately. Did I mention that, yet?

Not me trying to devour everything Laura Pavlov has ever written or anything…

Ruby and River were both such fun characters to spend time with! Ruby is fiery and stubborn and fiercely independent. (hi same.) River is tragic, he has a past riddle with trauma, but has made such an incredible life for himself. These two went from hate to love and i loved the slippery slope that they were on.

I love that Ruby was bound and determined to make a life for herself, to do something with her hard earned degree but to also do something fulfilling.

The post-it note killed me. Like just rip my heart out, River.

This was sweet and sassy and so sexy.

They just keep getting better! I love a good forbidden romance and this one hit every mark. Best friends little sister, forbidden love, small town, it’s always been you and then throw in a tattoo with a hidden meaning for her. DEAD.

Kingston Pierce, you have my heart.. And Saylor’s too. I love how this one played out with he slow burn, Saylor being privy to some of King’s private moments and then being the one to call him out on the feelings they each have for one another. King and his protective nature really made this one so tangible and gave is so much more depth than just any ole small town romance.

I love this story. I love these characters. I love this story. I never want to leave Magnolia Falls.
