About this listen

A sweeping small-town romance about love, loss, and a Montana legacy from USA Today bestselling author Devney Perry.

I met West Haven when I was eight years old. He taught me to play poker when I was nine, and we made paper airplanes together when I was eleven. He kissed me when I was sixteen. He was the best part about my family’s summer vacations to Montana. He was the boy who stole my heart. I was twenty-three when life ripped us apart.

Years later, I’m breaking my vow and returning to the ranch, not as a guest but its new owner. West might want me gone, but even he has to admit the only way to save his family’s legacy is with my help.

It’s not easy working side by side and facing those old memories. But this situation is only temporary. We’re at a crossroads. And as long as I don’t let myself fall in love with West Haven again, maybe this is our chance to put those ghosts to rest. Maybe this time we’ll finally be able to say goodbye.

Perfect Second Chance Romance

Crossroads is book one in the Haven River Ranch series. I am a new Devney Perry reader and am so happy I could start with a new series. I loved this book so much! I devoured it and didn't want it to end.

Indya and her family spent their summers in Montana at a ranch owned by West's family. Indya and West met when she was 8, and he was 10. This story follows Indya and West as their friendship develops and evolves as they move into their teenage years and early 20s. After some time away from the ranch, Indya returns as the new owner. While navigating everything that comes with the ownership change, Indya and West are forced to confront their feelings for each other and explore why their relationship fell apart.

I adored Indya and West and enjoyed witnessing their journey. Their chemistry and banter were amazing! This couple has completely stolen my heart. Even though they fought and attempted to deny their feelings, it's clear they have a deeply rooted connection and never stopped loving each other. The characters are raw, real, believable, relatable, and have so much depth. I was completely invested and rooting for them. The dual points of view and timelines were done really well. This story is emotional, and beyond the romance, it deals with grief and healing. I laughed, swooned, and cried. Crossroads is a great start to this new series, and I can't wait to read what comes next.

NARRATION:
Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais could read the phone book, and I would listen. They are two of my favorite narrators, so I knew I had to grab a copy of this audiobook when it became available. This story is amazing, but the audiobook completely enhanced my experience. Samantha and Connor's performances made me feel like I was in Haven River Ranch with the characters. They did a phenomenal job bringing the characters to life. Bravo!

Well-Worth the Wait!

I’m a huge consumer of romance audiobooks, and Devney Perry is a go-to author for me. I’ve been waiting and waiting for Cross Roads, because it seems a lot that I’ve listened to in the last few months has been relatively mediocre.

Cross Roads was well-worth the wait! DP knows how to construct a fabulous story! This contemporary, western, second-chance romance hit ALL THE MARKS for me! Sweet and steamy, a genuinely good guy, a unique take on second-chance, a resolution I didn’t see coming, and a fabulous epilogue! There’s more, to be sure, but I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this book…it’ll be added to my “Reread Collection.”

Narration was outstanding! Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor gave stellar performances…I was totally lost in this book. Finished it the first day! Can’t wait for the next in the series!

a little slow

I love devney Perry and this was a good one, just a little slower than her normal books. I'd still recommend it if you like her books though! the narration was great!

4.5 Stars

This is the first book I’ve listened to by Devney Perry. She is an excellent author. I was completely invested in these characters and the storyline. My heart ached for West and Indya. We get their story by going back and forth between the present and past. A few times it was a bit confusing, but over all it was well done. Second chance, childhood-friends-to-lovers are a couple favorite tropes of mine. Loved this story.

Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais are excellent narrators. They brought this audiobook to life with emotional performances that had it rolling like a movie in my head.

Small Town Romance Gold

🎧Narrated By: @ms_brentmoor and @connorcrais

Brilliant! Devney Perry just brought us another incredible series and took second chance romance up a level. Crossroads is now one of my top reads for 2024. Indya and West have known each other since she was 8 and he was 10, every summer Indya and her family would vacation in Montana and stay at West Haven’s family ranch. Each year their bond grew deeper, from playing cards as kids to secret hook ups when they were older, a few summers missed but once they would see each other again, they picked up right where they left off. When summer ends and the harsh reality of time goes by, relationships change and friendships drift apart. Indya doesn’t go back to Montana, untill now, years later. Back in Montana as an adult, Indya is the new owner of the Haven family ranch, putting her back in West’s life, but this time there is a lot on the line and emotions are all over the place. I absolutely devoured this book, I laughed, I cried, I grinned from ear to ear and I fell in love with the nostalgic feeling of Montana and West & Indya’s journey. Crossroads brought you back to the past of each summer they spent together and to the present day with all the feelings that were still so obvious. The flashbacks broke my heart but I was also living for that summer romance, and the present day put it back together and gave me every bit of angst and love these two were still holding onto all these years later.
Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais once again grabbed my soul and ran with it throughout this book. The two of them narrating this in dual is literal angsty small town romance gold. The soft whispers and deep truths they both voiced gave me that understanding of what Indya and West really meant to each other. The way both of their voices can make you experience every ounce of heartbreak till you have tears, yet make you feel as though you are in Montana living this summer love story, it’s truly incredible. I listened to this book on audio then went back and read it, both on KU. It was a beautiful story and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

My new fave Devney book!

Well, Devney has done it again. She wrote another banger and I am just obsessed. I laughed, I cried, I LOVED IT.

I devoured this book so fast. It was full of giggles and emotion and I just LOVED it so much. This childhood friends/second chance romance was just done SO right. The evolving timeline of the flashbacks was so good!! This book seriously pulled on my heartstrings.

Indya and West were written so well—both not perfect, both with baggage and then of course, there was the tension. SO much tension and it was just perfect.

Connor and Samantha absolutely nailed the narration. No extra notes.

Tropes:
Dual timeline
Second chance
Childhood friends
Enemies to lovers
Small town
Cowboy/rancher

Another hit!

I wanted to make this book last, but alas, I kept listening into the wee hours of the night and finished it. Even cried into my pillow on the sad part. Narration was excellent and Connor Craig’s hit it out of the park on many of the sexy parts. Woo, smoking hot 🔥

Absolutely amazing!!!

I like to go into books blindly...give me the tropes, and I'm good. So, I knew that this was a second chance, small town, childhood friends to lovers, cowboy, enemies to lovers read, but it was so much more than that. I don't want to give things away, but this is one of those books that you need to drop everything and read ASAP. It was absolutely beautiful and I have not been this emotionally affected by one of Devney's books since the Maysen Jar series. She truly outdid herself with this one!

West's family owns the Montana ranch where Indya spent her childhood summers vacationing. I loved getting the past glimpses into their relationship and seeing how it grew over the years...until life. When Indya comes back to Montana as the owner of the ranch, the tension is high and those enemies to lovers' vibes come out in full force.

The chemistry, the tension, the love and irresistible draw between West and Indya is everything. Talk about second chances...this book right here will have you feeling all the feels.

This is one of those books that I will be reading over and over again, and I cannot wait to see what's next in this series.

Also, that epilogue...it was so perfect!!

Wonderful new series

Indya and West were childhood friends from the time they met at eight and ten years old. Her family vacationed once a year at West's family ranch and resort. Indya's dad had cancer most of the time they vacationed there and he loved the rest it gave him. Now Indya is grown up and returns as the new owner of the ranch and resort. It was in financial distress that West's father didn't let him or his brother know about and he hasn't let them know that Indya is the new owner. There are flashbacks to help with the understanding of why things are the way they are. There are so many emotions in this book. I certainly cried toward the end. But Devney Perry knows how to bring everything together. I can't wait for the next book. Connor Crais and Samantha Brentmoor were perfect in bringing the book to life for me.
