Story
He was my uncle's friend, and I was too young for him. But in the heat of the moment, against the wall in a darkened hallway of an illicit club, none of those things mattered. It was just one night of giving in to what we both wanted. I never expected to see him two years later, sitting across me during a family dinner, encouraging me to do my internship for his business.

I usually always listen horror/thrillers. I get most of my recommendations off of TikTok, and this book kept coming up in multiple videos. I didn’t even read the summary! That being said, I loved it! Totally out of character for me, but it was well written, hot & steamy and made for a good story! This horror hound may have found a new genre!

This is one of those books that keeps you guessing. It keeps you involved. It keeps you interested. And it gives you pause to think about teens. And all the bs they have to go through. By no means do I condemn anyone killing anyone else, but I do understand the feeling of utter desperation to fit in. It’s been 30 years since I left high school. It seems like nothing has changed. This book looks at things from everyone’s point of view. Good story. Recommend!

Cycle of abuse meets a demon
Reviewed: 02-14-23
I saw a video for this book on TikTok, saying how much they liked it. I agree. It was very good. But I think for a person to understand it, you have to have known real pain (which almost everyone does). The author hits the nail on the head as he describes the cycle of abuse in a family dynamic. The other part of the book is what makes it a good read. The unknown of what our lives could be in other universes. I loved it. Highly recommend.

One of the best coming out stories
Reviewed: 01-01-23
Not only was this an excellent coming out story, it was a great coming of age story too. The way Kevin describes his thoughts and feelings from kindergarten on up is so relatable and funny. Not knowing what your feelings mean is hard as a youngster! You know they aren’t acceptable but you also know you can’t stop them. This book was elegantly written to express those thoughts and feelings. I laughed and I cried because I related to this story. Losing your “Henry” for being who you are is the hardest thing someone can go through. I’m glad they figured it out. Good read, definitely 5/5.

I’ve always been a fan of King’s work. But mainly the really scary stuff. I don’t care for fantasy reads. But this book, this book has made it to #2 on my list of his works. Not only is it of course well told, King made me believe I was there! I’m the world of Empass. I was with Charlie the whole time and I could not wait for each new chapter! Definitely a must read (listen to) for any one who likes fantasy, lore, action, adventure and longs for days of youth.

Thriller, scary, excellent

First off, the narrator was excellent! Soothing voice always makes the story better.
I haven’t “read” any Karen Slaughter in some time. Not since “Kisscut” many moons ago. This book was on a TikTok I saw about “books that will keep you up at night”. Definitely true. It’s scary because it happens.
This story dives deep into one family’s struggle after their oldest daughter/sister is abducted. It’s very well written from every family member’s POV. and the way it all comes together in the end is, well, quite scary.
Enjoy!
