Story
Jessica James is broke and counting down the days until she can defend her philosophy thesis. Desperate to get out of her grubby attic digs, she and her friends break into her professor’s office…only to find her adviser dead in the tub. Scoping the crime scene for clues, she leaves evidence that makes her both a suspect and a target. Suspecting the school's Russian janitor of doing more than sweeping the floors, Jessica mounts an investigation. Her ragtag posse helps her uncover a related date-drug scandal, and she fears she’s the next on the killer’s to-do list.

First Vera Stanhope Mystery

What made the experience of listening to Silent Voices the most enjoyable?
It's wonderful how Ann Cleeves can make her characters come to life. It is as though I know these characters personally. This story is a wonderful the ending was a surprise which makes for a great mystery.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes , I was on the edge of my seat all the way through the story. I would keep rewinding to make sure I did not miss a word. The twists and surprise that we expect from a good mystery would come on suddenly .
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed the entire book. It was interesting how the main character Vera was introduced at the beginning of the story. I felt I knew her and could identify with her.
Any additional comments?
I wish all of Ann Cleeves books were available in Audible. It's a great disappointment they are not.

Story
Hardly a day goes by when nine-year-old Laurent Lepage doesn't cry wolf. From alien invasions to walking trees to winged beasts in the woods to dinosaurs spotted in the village of Three Pines, his tales are so extraordinary no one can possibly believe him. Including Armand and Reine-Marie Gamache, who now live in the little Quebec village.

'The Nature of the Beast' is excellent . The only problem with any of the Three Pine mysteries is that they end and leave you thirsting for more.
Thank you Louise Penny for such great masterful writing. I would love to see these wonderful stories turned into a television series.
I so hope the next Three Pines mystery is in the works!
