Sort of an Encounter at Farpoint vibe
Reviewed: 01-28-23
Definitely worth a credit. While it's not one of my favorites, it may get a second listen which says a lot. Character work was just okay, and I really didn't go crazy for any one of them. There was some interesting history to be sure, and some puzzles of a kind really added to the story. If you liked Encounter at Farpoint from Star Trek, you'll probably enjoy this. Well thought out, and well narrated. Don't think you can go wrong.

It's been some time since I've enjoyed a book this much. I felt like the character building was the strongest piece of this book and something that is lacking in most Sci-Fi. It's nice to have people to cheer for, and people who are flawed, but doing their best under tough circumstances. I've started Book 2 and look forward to our Spacers new journey on Mars.

What could have been an entertaining read/listen was completely ruined by the Author's Fascist rants. He attacked the former President based on WAY too much CNN. Not only do we know the Steele dossier was bought and paid for by the DNC, but his take on the China Virus was wrong as well. Connelly is an idiot. Shut up and write. Connelly makes Stephen King look lucid, which is not easy, as most people believe King is dead, and his everything that comes from "him" is written by malware Bots.

Tearing through credits reading this series. Just the right amount of characters to keep you engaged, without having to take notes. I listen while I am at work, So this isn't what I could consider classical good, but it entertains me, and I have people to root for and against. There were some interesting (bad) decisions made by some characters in this book which really shook things up, but people make mistakes and they sure did here. Happy to have found something entertain and not preach. Enjoy the narrator as well.

Imagine if everything you, and your friends did or could do was absolutely perfect, and the best that could ever possibly be done. There you go. Imagine, allegedly hyper intelligent pilots, who talked like 11 year old valley girls. Everything comes so easy, with no struggle, and I am getting as bored writing this, as I did trying to slog through it. I gave the female narrator 3 stars, because it wasn't her fault the dialog she was given for her parts could have been any worse. To be honest, my review is based on about 1/2 the book, as I couldn't stand it any more. Audible is going to be cancelled soon.

Mary Sue defined
Reviewed: 09-15-22
I really gave this book a fair shot...getting through a lot of it, I am giving 4 stars, but was close to 3. If you don't know what a Mary Sue is, the main character in this book will define it pretty much, at least as far as I got. It was several redundant chapters of a young, scared girl on the verge of tears the whole time. It got old. Fast. A couple of interesting characters to be sure, but not enough to spend time with given the other nonsense going on. Too bad.

I've been struggling to find a good book...anything that doesn't want me to get a refund, or spend it's time saying "oRAnGe mAn, BaD". I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I didn't start with the first book, as I feel like the movie would have ruined it for me. This was the first book I actually finished in months, with most having to just be stopped due to horrible writing and or narration. I am becoming a fan of the genre, and the characters in this book and happy I have some more to indulge in. I've already started book 3, and am enjoying it as much as this one. Greatest novel ever? Nope. Entertaining, well performed and with likable characters...absolutely.

This book makes me want to quit reading
Reviewed: 07-19-22
The only reason to listen to this book is if you have trouble sleeping. I hate to be negative, but I am seriously considering cancelling Audible. The "reader" of this book, I am sorry is hands down the worst I've heard in years of audio books. I'll give him a break and say maybe he was as bored by this story as I was. To be honest, I did not finish this book. I struggled to get through 25 chapters, and threw in the towel. Life is hard enough without listening to someone trying their best to put you to sleep while talking about a pastor in Kansas City. This isn't Sci-Fi, it's ASMR. Some advice. Don't listen to this while driving or operating heavy machinery.

Not sure why it took almost two years for this book to get to Audible...Having said that, it was worth the wait. Another exciting, well read story in the Bluejacket Mafia annals. The book also delivers one of the best surprise endings, leaving me dying for the final chapter. Here's hoping we don't have to wait another two years.

What a fun read. Just the right amout of Sci-Fi, fantasy and a perfect amount of interesting characters. It was so nice to not have the boiler plate "He was 6'6 and solid muscle" infallible protagonist. Our characters were in danger quite a bit, and I always cared for their well being. The Author I thought was fantastic as well. Just bought Children of Ruin and can't wait.
