Publisher's summary

Professor Kilmer, a renowned historian of war and diplomacy, is collected from his home and whisked off to Washington. Thrust into the highest levels of government as an adviser to the President, the young historian must come to terms with the seemingly impossible, figure out how to navigate a world where not everything is as it appears, and use all the skills and knowledge he has acquired in his life to help save humanity from a conflict of truly epic proportions.

A genre-breaking novel that re-examines the human condition and masterfully blends some of the most compelling themes in literature: war and peace, strategy and serendipity, love and friendship, courage and fear, the bounds of possibility, and the limits of imagination. Replete with mysteries that will compel you to keep listening, powerful moments that will stop you dead in your tracks, and insights that will change the way you understand and navigate the world. Most of all...a journey you will not forget.

Sort of an Encounter at Farpoint vibe

Definitely worth a credit. While it's not one of my favorites, it may get a second listen which says a lot. Character work was just okay, and I really didn't go crazy for any one of them. There was some interesting history to be sure, and some puzzles of a kind really added to the story. If you liked Encounter at Farpoint from Star Trek, you'll probably enjoy this. Well thought out, and well narrated. Don't think you can go wrong.

Excellent use of story to teach timeless truths

Professor Malhotra does an exquisite job of teaching the principles of negotiation, listening to understand, use of history, and leadership in this mind bending encounter with aliens. I recommend this book to every person who aspires to lead through turbulent times.

More than a novel

With threads of history, philosophy, science and human frailty, this compelling novel weaves a tapestry that will leave the observer gratifyed and dazed.

Compelling story for the survival of earth

This book is compelling and imaginative. The negotiations and drama revolving around the earth’s survival were like listening to a real possible strategy meeting at the highest level. The president was also a competent and assertive leader which was refreshing. A story of human nature, love and sacrifice.

Yeah, it's really that good!

I can honestly say an overall rating of 5 stars is not high enough. I loved The Peacemaker's Code as much as I've loved any science fiction novel I've ever read. I'm only disappointed there aren't more Deepak Malhotra books in the story line waiting for my credits.

Time well spent

Thoroughly enjoyed this sci-fi/business fable. Great combination of drama and teachings. The dramatic aspects made it hard to put the book down while the historic insights and business learnings kept me going back to re-listen.

Wonderful

Deepak’s first novel is a great beginning to what I hope will be a long career in fiction. I listened to this entire book in 3 sessions, and seriously screwed up my sleep schedule as a result. If you enjoy science fiction, politics, and an exploration of the human condition, you’ll find this book a pleasant surprise.

Better than 5 stars!

If I could give this 6 stars, I would! I was grabbed by the story from the very beginning and was never disappointed and often surprised.
