I found the book very satisfying. Warm and complex characters. I enjoyed the span of time the story encompasses and the mix of psychology and personal drama.

I first read Dune almost 40 years ago. But reading it a second time, and by means of audio performance, has given me a better understanding of some of the philosophic/religious/evolutionary ideas. It is well written and well performed. Worth the 17 hours.

Although each of the stories is cleverly written, my favorite is "Intermezzo" . Intermezzo includes Georgiana Darcy as she overcomes her shyness and distrust of Caroline Bingley's machinations.
determines to find out more about the woman who has captured her brother's heart. With the prodding of Georgiana and Bingley's new seating plan, Darcy is seated next to Elizabeth and has an opportunity to find out how her opinion of him has changed.

One of Reynolds's best uses of the P and P original facts, but rearranged a bit.

This book is well written, as are the author's other P and P variations. This approach is very painful, however, because the misunderstandings occur while the character s are living under the same roof. This does explain the limitations and restrictions placed on women during this century. It is hard for me, as a 21st century woman to understand these sometimes.

I am a Jane Austen devotee. As the original P and P was written in a different culture and time, it is often difficult to understand Darcy's sudden transformation. Many of Darcy's words and mannerisms sound almost hostile under the lens of our current mode of communication. This story gives us the explanation for Darcy's words and actions based on his understanding and frequent misunderstanding of Elizabeth's words and looks. Regardless of significant changes to societal norms, Austen continues to resonate in our world. The tumult of first love is captured in the P and P original story and as filtered through Darcy's POV here. I enjoyed it very much.

Very clever use of P and P premise and details woven with more modern knowledge of psychology of young people falling in love. Self confidence and sexual shame issues of young women explored as part of Elizabeth Bennet's journey toward self knowledge. I enjoyed the ride.

Although I enjoyed the story, it was painful when several of Austen's characters were rewritten. For example, Mr Bennet and Jane Bennet. I could not accept that Mr Bennet would support Jeffrey Collins over Elizabeth or that Jane would accept Jeffrey Collin's view of Elizabeth without question. These issues damaged an otherwise pleasant reading experience.
