Story
Scott Strode drank his first beer at 11 years old. By 15, he was using cocaine. By his early 20s, he had spiraled into the bleakest nights of his addiction—alone in a dark alley, too drunk to light a crack pipe. Then came a series of life-changing outdoor adventures—including competing in Ironman triathlons and climbing in the Himalayas—leading to a decade of profound personal growth. By the summer of 2006, Scott had nearly ten years of sobriety and a vision for revolutionizing addiction recovery.

This book is well written. It follows a journey of recovery and self discovery but more importantly provides insight as to what each of us should understand about addiction, recovery and the strength and power in all of us. Thank you to the author for writing the book and for The Phoenix!

Story
There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, his and hers. Which means someone is always lying. When a woman is murdered in Blackdown, a quintessentially British village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case. Detective Jack Harper is suspicious of her involvement, until he becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation. Someone isn’t telling the truth, and some secrets are worth killing to keep.

Story
Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn. In our daily lives, too many of us favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt. We listen to opinions that make us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard. We see disagreement as a threat to our egos, rather than an opportunity to learn.

I thought I couldn’t love Alex Trebek more. I have been a Jeopardy fan for much of my life. Partly because I am competitive and I love the game but also because of Alex and his hosting skills. Well reading this book I learned of how kind he is, his humanitarian efforts, what a romantic he is and so much more. I soon figured out that he reminded me so much of my beloved Dad who I lost a few years ago and still miss so much. My Dad was my hero for so many of the same reasons and then of course some personal ones as well. There isn’t a comment or a viewpoint that I take exception with in this book. Thank you for writing a book which has the voice of reason this world needs to be listening to right now.

Story
To all appearances, Dan Chase is a harmless retiree in Vermont with two big mutts and a grown daughter he keeps in touch with by phone. But most 60-year-old widowers don't have multiple driver's licenses, savings stockpiled in banks across the country, and a bugout kit with two Beretta Nanos stashed in the spare bedroom closet. Most have not spent decades on the run.

I knew nothing about this author but was intrigued by the summary and was not disappointed. The characters were slowly developed- revealing a little more about them as the story progressed and it was captivating. I had envisioned a slightly different ending but even that was okay. Looking forward to reading more from Mr Thomas Perry
