Story
A serial rapist is kidnapping teenage girls. But he’s not interested in just any teenage girls - only virgins. He hunts them by following their status updates and check-ins on social media. Once captured, they’re locked away in his sound-proof basement until they’re groomed and ready. He throws them away like pieces of trash after he’s stolen their innocence. Nobody escapes alive. Until Ella. She risks it all to escape, setting herself and the other girls free. Only the girl who's been captive the longest gets out with her. And soon Ella discovers her nightmare's far from over.

Very engaging story. Sarah's voice though - not sure if it's a computerized voice, but it was SO hard to listen to.

Story
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Really great story

This is my first Kristin Hannah book & my first Vietnam book. I love the story told from Frankie's perspective. The reason I rated 4 starts instead of 5 is that I felt it was a bit slow at times after her return home. Overall a great book. I'm going to read another of Kristin Hannah's books next.
