About this listen

A serial rapist is kidnapping teenage girls. But he’s not interested in just any teenage girls - only virgins. He hunts them by following their status updates and check-ins on social media. Once he’s captured them, they’re locked away in his sound-proof basement until they’re groomed and ready. He throws them away like pieces of trash after he’s stolen their innocence. Nobody escapes alive.

Until Ella.

Ella risks it all to escape, setting herself and the other girls free. But only Sarah - the girl who's been held captive the longest - gets out with her. Both girls are hospitalized and surrounded by FBI agents who will stop at nothing to find the man responsible. Ella and Sarah are the key to their investigation, but Sarah’s hiding something, and it isn’t long before Ella discovers her nightmare is far from over.

Kept my interest I listened straight through. 1st narrator was better as she went on. At 1st I thought there are little kids. Secondary narrator was just okay. The story was good.

Got my interest

The voice for Ella is good, the one for Sarah is not at all….was hard to listen to the whole story and not focus on the nasally monotone voice.

Narrative voice for Sarah is monotone

It felt like it was almost like an overview rather than a very detailed interesting story.

Needed more details

I felt like there could have been more to the story and the way it turned out. However this would be realistic in this circumstance. I wanted more from this book however it was a good read.

Good listen overall!

The book was very good, similar to the cellar but different also.
The narrator for Sara was difficult to listen to because she sounded so robotic. But if you can get past that, it was a really good book.

good book

Very engaging story. Sarah's voice though - not sure if it's a computerized voice, but it was SO hard to listen to.

Heartbreaking

I loved this book but it took everything I had to get through it to the voice actor for Sarah. It’s like listening to the robot on tik tok that reads text; it was painful to listen to but the book itself was great. I just wish I read it instead of listening to it.

Great story. But ….

Like many others have said the voice of Sara was not particularly believable. Monotone, but not in a way that portrayed a flatness of spirit. It was literally like some sort of poor AI reading words on a page.
The story could’ve been so much better and need to be re-narrated. Outside of that, it was quite a good story. Although obviously, Ella‘s mother is a complete idiot.

Good story, horrid narration
