I usually am enthralled with his work but this just didn’t do it for me. Found myself skipping thru entire chapters to see if anything had developed. Narration was great! Storyline…. Ever so boring and monotonous!

Great Legal suspense!

I love legal thrillers and this did not disappoint. A few eye rolls on unnecessary dialogue or filler but all in all it had my attention all the way through. I do agree with some other reviewers about the answers given during testimony and not in the court room as ‘I did’ I do’ ‘It was’ which was a little repetitive but it had me guessing with all the twists and turns. I’m on to the 2nd book!

I fell upon her books just this year and absolutely love everything I’ve heard so far! Narration is spot on and perfect for K.L’s style of writing. I’m grabbing as many of her books as possible since most all have the same narrator! Bravo KL and Lucy for spending time with me on the road and anywhere else I have time to listen.

It was Charles I's love for his queen, Henrietta Maria, that plummeted England into the darkness of the Civil Wars, but it was the love and loyalty of another man that sustained her through days of betrayal, destitution, and death.
Tall and brave, Harry Jermyn is captivated by the witty French princess, just 14 years old when she sails with him to Dover, queen of a land she has never seen, of a people whose language she cannot speak, who despise her for her faith - and wife of a king she has never met.

I was surprised at the depth of character development and the amazing turn of events. I had a hard time in the beginning with the narration and initially found it irritating on the main character of 'Jax'. Once I muddled through this I became entranced. Great story!

Story
In the chaos of 14th-century England and France, wine is the nectar of angels - a valuable commodity buttressing kingdoms and vaulting vast fortunes. A mysterious old archer named David Arrowsmith recounts his tale to an eager French chronicler, Jean Créton, when the latter learns that his mission to Scotland seems a failure. The burden of Arrowsmith's story rests with Créton, who suddenly finds himself writing about a seemingly cursed infant that barely escapes the grip of the Black Death in rural Wales when his family dies.

Anyone who can listen to this narrator must be in a true coma! I cringe when I hear the voice because it reminds me of when you're put in a corner and told all the things you've done wrong. The story may have been okay..... I just couldn't listen very long to a monotone voice that sounded truly creepy.
