About this listen

You think you know the truth about the people you love. But one discovery can change everything....

Eight-year-old Billy goes missing one day, out flying his kite with his sister Rose. Two days later he is found dead.

Sixteen years on, Rose still blames herself for Billy's death. How could she have failed to protect her little brother? Rose has never fully recovered from the trauma, and one of the few people she trusts is her neighbour Ronnie, whom she has known all her life. But one day Ronnie falls ill, and Rose goes next door to help him...and what she finds in his attic room turns her world upside down.

Rose thought she knew the truth about what happened to Billy. She thought she knew her neighbour. Now the only thing she knows is that she is in danger....

The Mistake is a completely gripping thriller that will keep you up all night, from the top 10 best-selling author of Blink, Liar and Safe with Me. Perfect for fans of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train.

Lots of mistakes by main character.....

This is worth the credit as it was suspenseful and I really liked the very end. However (spoiler alert) I did want to throttle the main character through most of the book for being so meek, naive, and obtuse.

A Surprise Ending

I enjoyed this book and the narrator is AMAZING. The main character is a bit timid but understandably so considering the details of her life at a young age. The ending was definitely a shock. I was not expecting that.

Tedious.

Ponderous, with self-absorbed and predictable characters. Repetitive, with little subtlety or nuance. In a word: irritating.

A tragic mystery- that takes you to dark places

You will enjoy getting caught up in this - and it will unfold both as you expect it too, and not at all where you thought you’d end up.

Enjoyed

This kept my interest, and I honestly thought I knew who did it, and then bam, I actually didn’t. Wish the ending were a bit longer, but over, a good listen!

Keeps You Guessing 5-Star Narration!!!

The Mistake By: K.L. Slater outstanding, psychological, suspense, crime thriller! Keeps you guessing to the very end, and just when you ‘think’ you know who did it boom, nope and wow you’ll be wildly surprised at this whodunnit. Narration By: Lucy Price-Lewis sends the story over the top into amazing, she is absolutely one of the very best narrators ever! Highly Recommended 4.5 Stars

Interesting and entertaining but not a "Must Read"

This book is very badly titled. It's very vague and there isn't one particular choice that I would consider to be the main character's "mistake". It's more like a series of bad decisions, which I guess doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well...

The narrator is absolutely fantastic. I love her voice, ability to do accents, and how well she differentiates between characters. The writing is very British, which, as an American and a bit of an Anglophile, I enjoyed immensely. The story is alright but I didn't find the twists particularly clever. I bought this book at a discount so I don't mind that it didn't really blow me away. I might have been a bit more annoyed had I used a credit at full price. It wasn't bad but I'm sure there are better options out there.

Page turner

The book was well written, couldn’t figure out who murdered the little boy until the very end. It had me guessing until the last page. Couldn’t put the book down read it in one day.

Great read. 2 story lines to keep you guessing.

I enjoyed it better than Girl on a Train. Hated to see it end ! Though the ending was a twist.
