Story
Walt Disney was a true visionary whose desire for escape, iron determination, and obsessive perfectionism transformed animation from a novelty to an art form, first with Mickey Mouse and then with his feature films–most notably Snow White, Fantasia, and Bambi.

Not as in depth in creative. More a business narrative.

As a fan of imagineering and a member of the creative arts community I had hoped for more insight into processes and creativity. Instead this book feels like an accounting journal constantly going over financing and loans and cost of production. I feel like Bank of America got as much mention as Mickey Mouse.

Story
Philip Norman turns his formidable talent to the Beatle for whom belonging to the world's most beloved pop group was never enough. Drawing on previously untapped sources, and with unprecedented access to all the major characters, here is the definitive portrait of John Lennon. This biography takes a fresh and penetrating look at Lennon's much-chronicled life, including the songs that have turned him, posthumously, into almost a secular saint.

Nobody told me it was abridged like these...

After listening to the McCartney bio by Philip Norman I was surprised how choppy this one was... a total lack of detail and holes in the story. Oh... turns out it was abridged. Though the word was never used in the description.

Story
Award-winning historian Michael Wallis has spent several years re-creating the rich, anecdotal saga of Billy the Kid (1859-1881), a deeply mythologized young man who became a legend in his own time and yet remains an enigma to this day. With the Gilded Age in full swing and the Industrial Revolution reshaping the American landscape, "the Kid", who was gunned down by Sheriff Pat Garrett in the New Mexico Territory at the age of 21, became a new breed of celebrity outlaw.

More than a history of The Kid, a history of the times.

This collects all the info known about the kid, even comparing conflicting stories. It also includes a history of the people and the places surrounding The Kid to give you more detail into the tumultuous environment he grew up in. The narrator does a great job of switching voicing for quotes, to give life to the people interviewed.

It’s like a long chat with my sister.

So I don’t have an actual sister. But if I did... I think she’d be Felicia Day. I almost had so many “omg I remember that!” moments, but then remembered I wasn’t there; it just sounds like something I’d been there for. Especially when you get to chapter 12. Chapter 12 spoke so much about the anxiety and depression that I face. My big sis really came through for me. She was there for me, telling me how she got through it. And I thank her for that. THANKS FELICIA!
