I almost quit listening halfway through but glad I didn't . The second half of the book was better for me, but the end was a hit predictable.

Story
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

I don't understand all the glowing reviews!
Reviewed: 08-11-15
What disappointed you about The History of Love?
It's slooow. It's boring. I can't connect with any of the characters.
I couldn't finish it. I made myself listen to over half of it, feeling like I have to finish it, waiting for a turning point where it would come together for me and I would start feeling better about it. Finally, I said enough is enough and decided to move on.
What could Nicole Krauss have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
She wrote it fine, I just couldn't get into it. It happens sometimes.

It's what you expect from Jennifer Weiner
Reviewed: 06-03-15
If you’ve listened to books by Jennifer Weiner before, how does this one compare?
I generally like Jennifer Weiner because I know what I am going to get. It's a light, easy listen, and normal chick-lit. Nothing out of the ordinary, no surprises here.
Any additional comments?
There is a politician married to the typical politician's wife. The politician cheats with a younger girl. There are two daughters, one an ER doctor with a boring husband, who is having an affair himself, and then a daughter who is a recovering drug addict and the black sheep of the family. Oh, and there is grandma with a lot of opinions. The mom and two daughters end up getting together and bond over their problems and then they have thanksgiving dinner and everybody lives happily ever after.

Story
In this moving story about losing and finding love again, a woman sets out to find the perfect matches for those closest to her. Forty-eight-year-old Nantucketer Dabney Kimball Beech has always had a gift for matchmaking. Some call her ability mystical, while others, her husband, celebrated economist John Boxmiller Beech, and her daughter, Agnes, who is clearly engaged to the wrong man, call it meddlesome. But there's no arguing with her results: With 42 happy couples to her credit and all of them still together, Dabney has never been wrong about romance.

No surprises here. Every storyline is very predictable. It is ok to listen to if you need some background noise or need something that you don't need to concentrate real hard on.

Story
The summer that Nixon resigns, six teenagers at a summer camp for the arts become inseparable. Decades later the bond remains powerful, but so much else has changed. In The Interestings, Wolitzer follows these characters from the height of youth through middle age, as their talents, fortunes, and degrees of satisfaction diverge. The kind of creativity that is rewarded at age 15 is not always enough to propel someone through life at age 30; not everyone can sustain, in adulthood, what seemed so special in adolescence.

I saw this in my audiobook library and thought it was one I didn't listen to yet. Then I read the summary and was like, "Oh, yeah, that one." And it hasn't even been two months since I listened to it.
So, I guess that means its pretty unmemorable.

Would you be willing to try another one of Lauren Fortgang’s performances?
Maybe...if she doesn't try to be a teenage boy again. It wasn't convincing and distracting at first.
Was First Love worth the listening time?
Sure, it passed my time appropriately while I was traveling.
Any additional comments?
This is very much a Young Adult / Teenage novel. Not sure what I was expecting?? It was OK, nothing special, a nice little story.
