Story
An extraordinary debut novel of love that survives the fires of hell and transcends the boundaries of time. The narrator of The Gargoyle is a very contemporary cynic, physically beautiful and sexually adept, who dwells in the moral vacuum that is modern life. As the book opens, he is driving along a dark road when he is distracted by what seems to be a flight of arrows.

This book was reccomended to me by a very dear friend. At first I thought i might have gotten the wrong one, why would she have me read about a deeply narcicistic porn star with a troubled youth? Do yourself the service of finding out as i have.

Story
In the woods where human lands meet fae, an ancient king born before the history of men finds a dying baby. Iohmar will take in the child and care for him until a suitable home in the human realm is found. But best laid plans often go awry in the lands of Látwill, where winds carry fae across the star-strewn sky, the woods ensnare the weak-minded with their sinister song, and even Iohmar, King Beneath the Earth, is susceptible to the will of the immortal mountains.

Outstanding Fantasy
Reviewed: 10-23-23
This has been the single best stand alone fantasy novel I've read. Some of the best writing by far. Don't pass it up.
The depth of mystery and whimsy always tickling the edge of sublime, just this side of whimsical horror. Fae done right. FANTASY done right.
I can't wait to follow the career of such an accomplished young author. If this is where this journey begins, we're in for an incredible lifetime.

Story
Golan Trevize, former councilman of the First Foundation, has chosen the future, and it is Gaia. A superorganism, Gaia is a holistic planet with a common consciousness so intensely united that every dewdrop, every pebble, every being, can speak for all - and feel for all. It is a realm in which privacy is not only undesirable, it is incomprehensible. But is it the right choice for the destiny of mankind? While Trevize feels it is, that is not enough. He must know.

You, dear listener, continue at your own risk. It is not for the faint of heart - no more so than the study of dragons itself. But such study offers rewards beyond compare: to stand in a dragon's presence, even for the briefest of moments - even at the risk of one's life - is a delight that, once experienced, can never be forgotten….All the world, from Scirland to the farthest reaches of Eriga, know Isabella, Lady Trent, to be the world's preeminent dragon naturalist.

Understated Excellence
Reviewed: 03-05-21
Marie Brennan's unique touch to putting pen to paper is beyond praise-worthy. Isabella's memoirs are so utterly immersive its easy to forget that they, in fact and to any reader's dismay, are fiction.
Brennan deserves high praise and I can't believe that she doesn't have a stronger following. in my humble opinion she deserves a place among great fantasy writers such as Tolkien or Robert Jordan.
If you have any reservations about picking this series up, be it in print or recording, set them aside and take a literary journey with few peers, you won't regret a single page nor penny.

Story
In this Very Short Introduction, Bernard O'Donoghue provides a fascinating look at the many different forms of writing which have been called "poetry" - from the Greeks to the present day. As well as questioning what poetry is, he asks what poetry is for, and considers contemporary debates on its value. Is there a universality to poetry? And does it have a duty of public utility and responsibility?

Not an intro to poetry, perhaps a history?

Snooty nonsensical ramblings hour after hour, not an introduction to poetry but rather a brief history of a series of quotes about poetey. Waste of time and money.

Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan, but for Cath, being a fan is her life - and she's really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow Series when they were just kids; it's what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can't let go.

Best reccomendation I've had in a long time despite landing far outside of my typical reading. The narrator was the best i have heard on audible. Will be listening to more.
Well written, great characterization.
