About this listen

In the woods where human lands meet fae, an ancient king born before the history of men finds a dying baby.

Iohmar will take in the child and care for him until a suitable home in the human realm is found. But best laid plans often go awry in the lands of Látwill, where winds carry fae across the star-strewn sky, the woods ensnare the weak-minded with their sinister song, and even Iohmar, King Beneath the Earth, is susceptible to the will of the immortal mountains.

Magic long tethered to Iohmar’s soul will crumble. Unknown shadows and monsters of mirrored glass will encroach upon the borders of their land. And memories thousands of years lost will unravel as Iohmar struggles not only to properly rule his fair folk, but protect the fragile human son he never should have saved in the first place.

Excellent story telling. Original. Enjoyed getting to know the characters & imagining their world as the author & narrator brought it to life. Lovely fantasy.

Absolutely loved this story and the family dynamics between Fae king and human son. The love and sacrifices one gives for their child. Loved it so much I also went and ordered a physical copy!

Beautiful, soft but thoroughly engaging story about love, magic and sunlight. A father and child relationship I didn’t know my heart needed.

Such a sweet story, a bit melancholy at times but full of tenderness. The narrator is nice to listen to when falling asleep.

It was a cute simple story and I finished it in a day. I read it based off a friend’s suggestion, and if you like a cute family story you’ll probably like it.

Very well written

I found this book via Tiktok, and the author pitched it as a cozy fantasy story about a grumpy fae raising a human, and it is that. However, there is also this overarching theme of how grief can influence how we love, and how embracing the two of them together can lead us to a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us. 10/10, a great book to start my year with!

A soft story about love and grief.

it was like listening to a fantasy meditation but with a story I was hooked on immediately. The voice of the story was just so relaxing. not in a I make intense story points boring but I don't make you have muscle tension while you're still engaged in the story. I am not a writer I can't explain it well it's a beautiful wonderful story listen to it for yourself and experience the joy.

soothing and engaging
