Interesting content about insects that need oak trees for survival.
A bit academic, tough to listen to strings of numbers and references within the text.

He wanted to write a book, so he tells us his journey and what it took.
The stories of successful people are buried and seem like an afterthought in spite of what the title suggests.

This is more of a memoir of an accomplished person than anything else. Extensive commentary on people the author likes and dislikes adds little value. The actual content of this book could easily be summarized in 20 minutes. Don't waste your time.

Elevating Child Care Audiobook By Janet Lansbury cover art

What did you love best about Elevating Child Care?

The book is like an experienced person telling you the things they wish they had known when they started. It sounds conversational, accessible, but packed with helpful tips that build on some founding principles and philosophies on child rearing.

This book is short, sweet, and to the point. Initially I debated whether I wanted to spend a book credit on this short book, I'm so glad I did. She could have easily fluffed the book with stories and anecdotes to make it a standard 8hr long listen, but I appreciate that she didn't.

Which character – as performed by Janet Lansbury – was your favorite?

The author did a great job of narrating this audiobook.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People who feel they want a refresher on how to participate in basic human interactions. In case you didn't know, Amy explains -- you should smile, but not a fake smile b/c the other person will be able to tell you're faking. Thanks Amy!

What was most disappointing about Amy Cuddy’s story?

It sounds as if someone offered her a book deal and asked her to fill 300 pages with whatever she wanted. Every other sentence is about how she gave a TED talk, or some tangential commentary that leaves you wondering 'what does this have to do with presence'? No one knows, but it fills the page quota.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She speaks as if we're 3rd graders.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The good parts could be boiled down into a 20 minute TED video.

Intelligent, well articulated, and integrated perspective on advacing equality in our society. The last of the book is a more practical guide but was less interesting for me than first two parts.
