A divorced substitute teacher living with his cat in a house his siblings want to sell, all he wants is to open a pub downtown, if only the bank will approve his loan. Then his long-lost uncle Jake dies and leaves his supervillain business (complete with island volcano lair) to Charlie. But becoming a supervillain isn't all giant laser death rays and lava pits.

A Fun Villian Story!
Reviewed: 02-11-24
It's a fast paced story with well placed comedy and a pretty lovable main character. Charlie's adventure is almost an inverse of the "what would you do if you woke up tomorrow with superpowers?" question.
Will is an engaging and enthusiastic narrator who sounds as though he's enjoying the story right along with you! In some of the heavy dialogue scenes, he gets so involved in the energy that he occasionally forgets which characters have which accents, but it was very rare and not noticeable enough to take you out of the story.
A fun story, a great listen, and it will have the side effect of you looking sideways at your cats for a few days!

That is a question Private Detective Tony Mandolin finds himself pondering as the evidence piles up in a case involving a string of dead redheads and the usual dose of weirdness San Francisco has to offer. To complicate things, Mandolin has to deal with the perception that he has become the latest golden boy of the fog city's crime boss. It's Campy and Fun
Reviewed: 12-20-23
Is this series a serious "murder mystery" or "fantasy?" No. Absolutely not. It's campy, it's hokey, and tows the line of satire. It's terrifically amusing!
My only huge complaint is that in Book 2 there's an audio discrepancy when Tony is talking to a zombie and several tracks are overlaid, making the whole scene unintelligible.
Otherwise, it was a fun distraction while doing dishes, laundry, and all other mundane tasks.

Story
The wayward son of a revered Civil War general, Roland Molineux enjoyed good looks, status, and fortune - hardly the qualities of a prime suspect in a series of shocking, merciless cyanide killings. Molineux's subsequent indictment for murder led to two explosive trials and a sex-infused scandal that shocked the nation. Bringing to life Manhattan's Gilded Age, Schechter captures all the colors of the tumultuous legal proceedings.

Fascinating story! There's a lot of psychology related to poisoning, it's often known as a "feminine crime." Quite interesting to learn that the first "media driven case" of the century was a male poisoner.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

To add to the surprise, he is now a sentient computer and the controlling intelligence for a Von Neumann probe. Bob and his copies have been spreading out from Earth for 40 years now, looking for habitable planets. But that's the only part of the plan that's still in one piece.

Could not recommend more! Between the "nerdy" references, quick paced story line, and sheer perfection of narration I'm hooked!
